  • Hi,
You could try using Throttlestop, download and install stable version from the link, follow the instructions in the video to undervolt, it's for a different CPU but the principle is same.

Do you have any suggestions for the settings throttlestop? I have been using it for a while but still am confused. Intel XTU looks easier and bigger but I'm still not sure
  • Different laptops have different settings, you can use the settings in the video, if your laptop is unstable, then increase the voltage, when you follow the video, pause it and read the description, it may look difficult at first but once you are familiar with the program it's very easy to use.

If the BIOS has locked CPU voltage control, you will need to install a previous BIOS to get this working.
Check the FIVR window in ThrottleStop? Does it show Locked?

Throttlestop isnt locked for me but Intel XTU is for some reason. Throttlestop will work on all BIOS versions?

Increasing voltage makes temps lower right? That's basically my understanding of throttle stop.

Do you guys know the best BIOS version for my laptop, it used to perform really well as I could run sekiro, darksouls or some triple a games at 600 fps but now it overheats and I get fps drops to 10 or 5.

In my setting I have reduced the Offset voltage by 125mV from normal voltage the CPU was designed to work, if I reduce the voltage further my system might become unstable, if I want to reduce my temperatures further I can increase the Offset voltage to 130 or 135 but I am quite happy with 125mV, I think it explains how you can adjust your settings, remember to set the CPU cache also the same voltage( in my case 125mV).
Minus sign means reduction, so -125mV>-130mV.

My max is 150, I get the blue screen, thanks for advising me to use throttlestop. I also realized I have a lot of chrome tabs open and it uses more than 50% of my ram when I exit out it made performance better too. Does throttle stop settings still open when you shutdown your computer, will it always run in the back or do i always have to open it everytime?
  • No , it won't run at the background, you have to create a Basic task in Task scheduler for it to start when you start the laptop, whenever you shutdown the laptop the program will stop.

No need to set the core and cache offsets to the same value. Many 8750H will run stable with the cache at -125 mV and the core at -200 mV or more. Use Cinebench R20 or the newer R23 when testing. Start with the voltages set equally and then increase the core in steps of -25 mV. If you lose stability, decrease the cache to -110 mV or -100 mV. The cache offset is always the limiting factor.

Set the Intel GPU back to +0.0000. This can interfere with the CPU undervolt.

Here is the official guide to start ThrottleStop with Windows.

The other guide posted has Stop if the computer switches to battery power checked. That should not be checked.

But when I shutdown my laptop I can just open the program again right and it will run throttlestop with the settings I chose before shutdown?
