Need permanent fix for Bluetooth and Fingerprint issues Swift SF314-41

System Model: Swift SF314-41

My Bluetooth would suddenly stop working. I use a Bluetooth earphone and it would suddenly lose sound. This never happened on my phone. I think it's a BT issue since the slider to turn it on/off sometimes would disappear or sometimes the BT settings page would refuse to open. Restarting the machine would solve it temporarily. This can be critical if it happens while I'm on call.

Another issue is the fingerprint sensor. Sometimes it cannot defect my fingerprint. It's not the critical but it can be annoying.

    Hi @misstral,

Have you tried to reload the operating system to check and correct any software issues.

Those will be two different problems, since the hardware is different for each. What I've seen with fingerprint readers is that you really have to train them several times before they get really good at it. I think I did my Switch fix or six times but it almost always recognizes me now. For the Bluetooth, is there any chance you are accidentally hitting the airplane mode key? That will toggle it off...

I experienced the same problem like
    misstral.
My Bluetooth would suddenly stop working. similar problem with fingerprint reader gone by itself, problem seems to be related and based not only a simple driver issue but something more complex.

Bluetooth and fingerprint reader and any other things acting together with these services, they stop working suddenly and then  start working again, you only wouldn't know when..

I had this problem not only once, twice or more , last time happened one month after the purchase in april 2020 and  twice during the last week.
first experience I reinstalled windows from scratch, thinking that would fix issues,

Very annoying experience  indeed as I need bluetooth connections  for my job..

Acer-Samuel I need an expert opinion or maybe better direct help from ACER producers. can anyone help me who  can i contact for this problem ??
billseyI can confirm that this has nothing to do with flight mode or anything else. Happens suddenly and it is like hardware( for bluetooth and fingerprint connection)  is somehow turned off...and then occasionally turned on again ...,if only  lucky...Now this problem, according to me it is not related to drivers i.e.  I updated the latest bluetooth drivers and ten minutes ago, bluetooth connection disappeared together with  fingerprint scanning option is gone as well.

When the problem asserts itself, do the devices disappear form Device Manager as if the hardware was no longer there, or do they stay in Device Manager and just refuse to work?

    hi billsey,
the devices disappear form Device Manager as if the hardware was no longer there....
then,  after two-three  restarts, or after some time  ( bluetooth and fingerpront reader  and  other component if any   ) they appear again, function normally as nothing happened.

what might be the source of this problem ?

PS: in the device manager I do not even see bluetooth services, only  when I choose "show hidden " option, but even there  in hidden option , bluetooth  seems  to be disconnected....and when the services( Bluetooth etc. ) start working again, appears in device manager, back to normal, as nothing happened.
so this is like the PC suddenly says  "Hey! No blueetooth here", and also  "there is no fingerprint reader here!", you have to sign in with password or PIN( this fingerprint issue also ripetitive,  happening  several times) and  then all of a sudden   , "Ah here they are !!!..." all back to Normal.

    Hi there!
so in this beautiful ACER forum, you present your inevitable problems with ACER computers, and then one of the  very experienced forum guys seem to understand the issue and   then your problems remain unsolved...is that the ACER community  style?

Look for the USB hub in Device Manager that is associated with the Bluetooth and fingerprint reader. Try uninstalling that and let Windows reinstall on the next boot.

hi billsey, thanks for your answer, indeed  I did exactly what you have said, uninstalled the USB hub in device manager, and windows reinstalled on the next boot, things were back to normal ...but problem reoccured afterwards. BTW  this is not a permanent,  just an occasional, but big pain in the neck issue....
what is wrong with this ACER Swift SF314-41 series???

I think it's likely a bug in Windows, since so many people who see it say it happened after a Windows update. It's happening on many different platforms that don't seem to tied to any specific manufacturer. I don't know if MS is tweaking power modes or what...

Go to Microsoft Update Catalog and search for atheros bluetooth driver and whatever fingerprint driver updates.

Download, unzip, copy/paste into new folder and device manager update.

    BT Issue:

    -- Happened again today.
-- BT earphones suddenly lost its sound. I disconnected the earphones and the audio worked on speakers. I can still toggle the BT ON/OFF on the laptop but the earphones would not reconnect. I then turned on the BT on my phone and my earphones connected there without an issue.
-- I also have a BT mouse but it has a dongle and I never had issues with it.

    Fingerprint Issue:

-- Has not happened in a while.
-- Just to clarify, the issue is not about it making mistakes, it is the sensor not detecting anything at all.

    BT Issue:
I updated the driver from 10.0.0.948 to 10.0.0.954. Will wait if it ever happens again.

    Fingerprint Issue:
I just said that it has not happened in a while. But when I restarted the laptop after updating the BT driver, it happened again. And actually, this has happened before. Fingerprint issue seems to surface whenever I make changes in the BT driver (can't recall if this happened when I updated the sound driver long ago).

I tried updating its driver using the ones from the Catalog, which are versions 3.7 and 3.10. But Windows is saying I already have the best one installed, which is 3.5. Vendor is Egis Tech.

    Hi @misstral,

Have you tried to reload the operating system to check and correct any software issues.

Found this thread as Im dealing with the exact same issue after following every bluetooth troubleshooting guide out there. Its not about reloading the OS, updating the drivers, rolling back updates, uninstalling drivers, etc etc, everything that you see out there. There is something specific about the Swift SF314 bluetooth hardware that is faulty. My only fix is to restart the computer a few times until it crops up again and then im back searching the internet for help. Acer, what recourse do I have for my laptop (purchased in March 2020) to get a recall here or under warranty still for faulty bluetooth?

It's still happening, by the way. Audio over bluetooth stopped working on me twice this hour alone.

Does it have a relation to the RAM usage?
