Hello guys,

As per the title, my charging gets disconnected and reconnected at approximately 88%. I have tried battery reset, uninstalling battery drivers, charging with a different charger, different port, updating bios to 1.22. The problem is still there. I had initially had this problem a year ago but it got solved automatically. Now it has started again. Please advise. I dont think the battery is faulty as i still get a good battery of about 4 hours out of it.

Go to the elevated command prompt.  Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport'. Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer. Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser. Compare design capacity with full charge capacity. Post screenshot if possible. Jack E/NJ

Thank you for the reply. Here is the screenshot. Yesterday it was showing full charge capacity around 35k and today it is showing 26k. How is this possible?

Chinu92 your battery its faulty (as you can see very well on on your prtscr) it needs to be replaced your wear% its too high  you are on half of the capacity of what its designed for if you used to game on battery or use it on battery for high demanding works thats your reason you should never use it on battery always on AC if still on warranty i suggest you to contact acer support and send it to get a battery replacement gaming laptops were not designed to be used on battery at all the battery main purpose its only to aid the adapter with more power when this one cant provide enough to the cpu/gpu up to 10/15% wear its acceptable more than that the battery starts to get faulty and it will increase day by day until its completely dead and wont accept any charge at all i am on AC for 2 years 24/7 non stop and my battery wear its only 9/11%

Seems like the battery's internal controller is reporting a varying wear level between about 26% to 46%. Which suggests either the battery is unstable or its internal control circuit is failing. So I have to agree with xapim

I agree with colleagues JackE and xapim. However, wouldn't it be interesting to try to calibrate the battery? Only in this way will the actual wear level be showed.

Hey guys, I had sort of the same problem, not playing but running deep learning code with high level of GPU usage. Some codes run overnight.

For me it seems that the reset was enough. Thank you guys.

Btw, any extra tips for saving the battery? I am mainly using Ubuntu, Windows is not that suitable for me. Thanks in advance.

@JackE thanks for this reply. Is there a way to check this battery report on Linux (ubuntu 18.04)? I am running heavy deep learning codes again and the problem just came back (charging keeps disconnecting and connecting).

ps. I am dual booting Windows 10/Ubuntu 18.04 (so I can use your solution on Windows).

    thanks in advance!!

This is the output of Gnome Power Statistics on Ubuntu:

@JackE I asked, but I already found a solution (gnome power statistics). Do you guys think the battery is faulty? @xapim @egydiocoelho @JackE

By the numbers (about 75% == 36,8/48,9) I am not sure if I need a replacement, however this fact that it keeps connecting and disconnecting constantly (apart from being annoying), makes me think I need another battery.

Also, I used it in a very awkward way since the day I bought the laptop (December/2018), basically always in AC power and running many deep learning codes with high GPU usage overnight.

Charger connecting/disconnecting is the same as Battery charging/discharging. This is normal under heavy GPU/CPU power demands because both the battery + charger must deliver the required power demand. Meaning neither can deliver the required power alone. At those times of high power demand, the battery is NOT charging because it is helping the charger deliver the needed power. When the power demand diminishes, charging will automatically kick in again. I think this is what you're are seeing. Jack E/NJ

@JackE thanks for the prompt reply. Maybe I did mislead you.

My problem is that when the charger is ON, the laptop acts as if I took the charger out of the plug and plug it again frequently. Say battery if 20% and I try to recharge. I insert it on power, but it its way up to 100% it keeps "unplugging" and "plugging" back (together with the annoying sound while plunging and unplugging). I tried in many plugs around the house, so the plug is not faulty, charge voltage seems ok.

I "solved" the problem doing a battery reset. The problem was "solved" for some days, but when I did let the laptop running many hours (12+) deep learning codes it came back.

Even when I try to charge the laptop turned off, the light indicating "charging" blinks.

Thanks again. I already appreciate the help from acer community.

Is the blinking charge LED somewhat steady periodic or erratic? Jack E/NJ

I have the same problem as @askery . When my charge cable is plugged in, the computer thinks it keeps disconnecting and connecting again. Over and over, all day. It has killed my battery life - I'm sure I need to replace the battery but I want to fix the issue so it doesn't kill a new battery. @xapim or @JackE any ideas? I can make a new post if that would be helpful.

Does it blink when the laptop is off? If yes, the battery's internal charge controller is probably defective. Jack E/NJ

check your battery wear with hwinfo or battery bar pro if its more than 20% consider replacing it
