Just recently the laptop power up is very slow.  The black screen with the green Acer logo appears, and the thinking 5 dot circle spins for over 90 seconds before it finally goes to the Windows login screen.  It was never this slow.  I have restarted the laptop 5 times, and it has the exact same result on battery and with the AC adapter connected.

What could be the problem?

Open Control Panel again. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point'. If SystemProtection is turned on in the box that pops up, click the SystemRestore button. Click next. Are there any automatic restore points with a date/time stamp that coincides with when the slow booting started? Jack E/NJ

Open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable'. Scroll down an checkmark the box for fast startup. Jack E/NJ

That box was already checked.  So, I un-checked it and restarted.  Boot time was the same.  Went back and re-checked the box, and restarted.  Boot time still the same.  If the start up is hung up in the black screen with the Acer logo, is that a Windows issue or a BIOS issue?

Interesting.  The recommended restore point is 10/8.  Which is probably right before I started noticing the problem.  The description is AMDCleanup Utility Restore Point.

    That fixed it!  Thanks Jack.

There was another restore point dated 10/11 that had a Windows Update.  Not sure if the Windows update was the one that screwed it up or the AMD Cleanup.  It now boots fully in under 30 seconds.

I'm gonna guess an errant MS update slipped it in there when you weren't looking. It may return to haunt you. In that case, you might have to temporarily block the update from doing it again by using Microsoft's update hide tool till it gets fixed by yet another future update. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hide-windows-updates-or-driver-updates-5df410a1-90f7-b744-0682-43be9c8fa17c   Jack E/NJ
