Chromebook not charging cb3-431-c5fm

I am having a charging port issue with a cb3-431-c5fm. The port moves as the charger is plugged in. The charging indicator light does not come on but the battery and the charger get warm. Computer will not bootup. The charger is good.

    It depends, I have seen both the DC end go bad on the power brick, or the DC Jack finally the clips that hold the DC jack in place might be broken.
    The easiest is to use another charger/laptop of the same or similar model and see which parts make a working pair and which ones don’t. Then do an elimination and point to the bad part.
    Another option, you can test the charger with a multi-meter: check voltage and current. If OK, the problem is the laptop power port. The power socket on the laptop might have failed internally.

    Thank you. The charger tests good. I also tried it on another Acer Chromebook with the same output charger. I tried the good charger on the Chromebook with the battery out and still did not get a charge indicator light or a boot up. I was thinking if the battery was bad it should work with the battery out but this could be wrong.

    I ordered a new port be here tomorrow. Will post results after I install it.

    The new port solved the problem. Easy fix. Note: If you take off the bottom panel of the Chromebook note the slightly different length screws. When I put mine back together the mouse pad would nor click for enter. I put the longer screws under the pad not realizing there were different lengths. Thanks for the help.
