Acer Nitro 5 "AN515-44-R99Q" RAM upgrade

I have recently purchased an Acer Nitro 5 "AN515-44-R99Q", and have looked through this forum (https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/605107/an515-44-r99q-ram-upgrade) to see if I could upgrade the RAM to run 2x8gb dual channel at 3200. However, there was no clear answer of whether I could simply get another 8gb stick or if I have to go with a completely new 2x8gb set. A friend said I needed to get a new set if I wanted to use dual channel as the Acer RAM that comes with the R99Q model is not dual channel compatible with any other RAM, and Acer does not sell it. So my question is, to achieve 2x8gb 3200 dual channel memory, do I need to get a new 2x8gb set or would one 8gb stick be compatible with the current RAM? In your answer would you also leave links to whatever products you recommend? (I currently don't have the laptop yet so I can't verify what specific RAM the laptop has) Thankyou in advance.

You can add another 8GB RAM stick and it will work in dual channel as long it has the same specs like your current one. Download CPU-Z and post a screenshot from the memory tab and spd tab. Oh just saw you don`t have it yet so as soon as you get it check with the CPU-Z what are the specs and buy one with the exact same specs. You can ask here before that thou.

@batmalin So I have received the laptop. I opened it to take a look at the RAM and other components and took pictures. I have attached two pictures of the circuitry and the RAM to this message. If you would show me where in the picture the extra m.2 slot is and find me a compatible 8gb stick of RAM and leave a link that would be great! Thanks.

On the first picture there is a "2" in a circle and text near it - "PCIe/SATA". lhe slot is left from the circle. For the RAM - https://www.kingstonmemoryshop.co.uk/kingston-kcp432ss6-8-8gb-ddr4-3200mhz-non-ecc-memory-ram-sodimmPlease click "Yes" if I have answered your question.

@batmalin Thank you for your quick response! Would you please let me know where I can purchase that same RAM model for cheaper, or if there is a different compatible model that is cheaper. Although it's off topic from the question, I have decided to upgrade the storage with a SATA ssd. However, I bought my laptop refurbished and it does not come with a SATA cable like it would brand new. Would you let me know where I can purchase an appropriate one or if I should put in a claim to get one for free?

This model is from like couple of Months ago, how did you managed to get it refurbished? Even if I find it cheaper I am not sure if the price will be not the same or even higher due to shipping and customs costs. Where are you based? Please click "Yes" if I have answered your question.

@batmalin Update: I have installed the crucial RAM and a Team GX2 1TB SSD. The RAM works great at the correct clock speed and has been an awesome upgrade, however I wish I had gone with an NVME SSD rather than the SATA one. Since I got my laptop refurbished, it did not come with a SATA cable. So if you include the cost of the cable and the sata SSD, it's more than this NVME ssd, which is much faster.

Ok so get the NVMe one..

@batmalin I'm not sure if its worth returning it at this point as I've already formatted the SSD. i just posted that so that anyone who looks at this forum would have an update and not make a mistake like i did if they happened to have gotten it refurbished like me. however the sata ssd is 20$ cheaper to get if you have gotten this laptop brand new which would come with a sata cable.

This RAM has the same speed, but the latency is different (C20). Is this option compatible to work dual channel?
