Aspire Z24-890 : Microphone stopped working

Aspire Z24-890 internal microphone isn't working - it should (I think) be a realtek but it is showing as "not plugged in" in device manger - as it's an internal device that seems unlikely. I have tried enabling, disable, re-enable and updating the driver with no change. The machine also shows an Intel smartsound microphone array - but if I enable that as the default device the trouble shooter just comes up audio device not working. It was fine the last time I used it for a zoom meeting about a week ago.Can anyone help me get this working?

You should check for the allowed permissions for the zoom application. Check whether Zoom has access to microphone. If not try to enable the microphone permission for Zoom. Hope it helps you in some way.0 -
Thank you. I have had a look but it seems something else is wrong. Other apps also have a problem finding the microphone too, not just zoom.

Check Settings/Privacy to see if permission to use microphone is granted.
Microphone array is the internal microphone.0
