Had ANYONE successfully flashed bios on an Acer Spin.?? if so, can some help me thru?

 I've tried just about  everything!

the firmware from this site has no FD file when extracted, and trying the BIN file doesn't work no matter what format the usb is in (FAT, Fat32). even download an flashit exe I found. no dice

if you have the exact files needed can you sent to me?

Which Spin 1 do you have? Which BIOS is installed now? Why are you trying to replace it?

I have SP111-31N. installed 1.07 from 1.11 hoping to fix non  Responsive touchscreen. But after it installed the screen never came back on. Wish I never did that lol

Yeah, we never suggest a BIOS update unless it's one that specifically addresses the issue. A touchscreen problem is almost never BIOS related since it appears to the OS as just another USB device. Can you boot to an install image?

@billsey , I don't know what the 'boot image' means . I was messing with things I didn't understand lol.

It's the Windows install image, usually an .ISO file, written to a USB flash drive. You can create it using the tools from Microsoft or by using Rufus.

@billsey do you have a link where I can find directions on doing this?

I'm not sure my laptop is booting at all after the bios downgrade but will try anything

Yes I know that you have unfortunately “learned the hard way’ but YOU NEVER EVER DOWNGRADE A BIOS as anything to do with a BIOS has to be done cautiously and for specific reasons that the BIOS version fixes and/or upgrades to, because of consequences that happened to you!

It seems like your laptop is bricked and has to be fixed by an Acer technician who will change your SP111-31N’s mainboard (which Acer always do) or another technician that has expertise in fixing/replacing a BIOS chip. There is no magic bullet to fix a BIOS stuff up like yours! My advice is "Get ACER or an Expert Technician" (as we can’t advise you on anything BIOS related) and get them to fix your Acer Spin SP111-31N bricked BIOS, simple.

Yes, if you are not able to get into the BIOS from a cold start, and you aren't configured for the ability to boot from a USB stick, you are pretty much at the point where a decent technician with the right tools has to reflash the CMOS chip. Most computer repair businesses don't have that capability.

@billsey a sincere thanks for all your comments. I'm not in warranty unfortunately. last time I reached to acer I was forwared to a 3rd part and the guy seemed uncertain how to fix it. said he'd call me back and never did.

there's one final thing I saw but it looks very difficult. involves attaching this clamp thingy on the bios chip. suppose I could call back and ask.

Yeah, that's similar to how a service center will reprogram it, though they will have better ones than what's shown in that video.
