Camera not working properly PH315-52-72RG

Hi, I'm using the Acer Predator Helios 300, and am having some issues with the integrated camera. When I initially got the laptop a little less than a year ago, the camera worked just fine, but now it's run into some issues. It seems like half of the time, the computer can't detect the camera for whatever reason. The app I'm using doesn't seem to change it - I've had the issue on both the 'Camera' app as well as Zoom. Both usually tell me that they can't detect the camera.

I've gone into my settings and done some troubleshooting unsuccessfully. Camera access for the device is on, and all apps I need camera access for have already been turned on. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for the camera, and am also on the most recent version of Windows.

After some further testing of the camera, I noticed that if I titled the top part of laptop back (the entirety of the screen part) and put it at its most "open" spot, the camera would suddenly turn on and function just fine. If I tilt it back towards me a tad, the camera will continue to work, but I can see noticeable "tears" and odd glitchiness/strange colors showing up across the screen. If I then continue to tilt the laptop back towards me, the camera will cease to work at all.

I'm assuming this is just a hardware defect that I should get checked out, but I just wanted to confirm that there isn't something I'm missing that could fix it. Thanks.

  • I think there is a problem with the webcam cable. Can you give the exact model of the computer? Example an515-51-75kz.

  • Have you tried to take apart the laptop to check the webcam?

I have not tried that yet no. I don't know if I'd feel particularly comfortable doing that either.

I was having the same issue, tried everything i could found on the internet but nothing helped. At last i plugged my external webcam from PC to laptop suddenly my camera started working *yes laptop integrated camera* don't know how but weirdly it did work even though not for long next day same issue again. Plugging in and out external camera seems to fix this issue temporarily.
What you can do is to get someone's external camera, plug in and plug out then check for the camera app or may be reverting windows updates might fix this even though not helped me. I'm on Windows 10 Pro version 2004 build 19041.450.

Whatever you said seems right, i tried what you said opening lid back and forth while camera turned on and what i noticed is that my camera disconnects at certain degrees mostly  between (0-90) degrees beyond that camera works fine. I didn't noticed any tearing, maybe you camera wire is in bad condition than mine.

    Hello,

I also had problems with my camera.
Today I tried something that resolved the issue, not sure if it will work for others.

But I went into Device Manager -> Camera -> Inactivate.
Then activate it again and poof it worked again.
