Why is battery charging capabilities dying so quick?

I have an Acer Nitro AN515-54 laptop and since I bought it I have used it almost exclusively on power (98% of total time). The battery max level dropped continuously, and now I'm at 7% and I get "Battery low" message (with my power cord connected, of course).

My question is if I reach 0% my laptop will not start anymore? Or I can use it with on power until the replacement battery arrives?

If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.
Thank you.

    Daniel_Netherlands,

How old is your PC? Normally a laptop can run with AC alone without the battery in it.
99.5% of the time I use my laptop without the battery in.

So easy to test it out. Just do a PC shutdown first. Unplug the AC power, then take out the battery. Plug AC back in and start your PC.

My laptop is 9 months old. That's why I'm concerned about my battery life.
I did the following, I have unplugged my laptop from power, then I have pressed the power button for 15 seconds, then restart. It didn't fix it.
To take out the battery will be more complex, since I have to take out the cover with all the screws and I few more things, I think, like memory.

I have read some posts about this laptop that the battery drains real fast and battery life real short. Seems like it is a rather common problem. Probably Acer chose a sub quality battery for this laptop.

I understand normally a battery has a couple thousand times of charging cycles. That is the reason why I take out the battery when I just use it at home and runs on AC only. I may put the battery back only if I travel ( if travel within the U.S. maybe I'll still don't put it back).

I would do the same if I'm able to take out the battery easily, but the battery is embedded, so I have to do the ugly procedure with all those screws.

    Thanks!

Try to find a video from Google or Youtube about your model. Hopefully some people have the video on how to take down or servicing the laptop. Sometimes it need not be the exact same model number, a similar model probably has the same take down process.

My suggestion: Use your cell phone or video cam to record your take down process, you may later find it useful if don't know which screw goes where.
