I bought a Predator Helios 300 PH315-52-748E and the colours are atrocious. How does Acer sell this?
As soon as I turned it on, I noticed it had some weird reds (youtube logo, chrome logo), but thought it was just the screen configuration. After innocently delving into the windows screen settings and gpu settings I started realizing that the colours weren't getting better. I checked the device manager to get my panel model: AUOD0ED
Went to panelook and the values really seem to be what I was looking at: http://www.panelook.com/B156HAN13.0_AUO_15.6_LCM_overview_41405.html
Disgusting colour accuracy that ruins the whole experience of using this laptop. I don't know why I haven't seen more people complaint about this screen, it must be on very few variants of the helios 300. It's the 120Hz screen and here is a photo so you can get some idea of how bad it looks (in real life it looks worse than on that photo):

Reds look "orangy", magenta looks like a light purple and the whites have a slight yellow tint.
Are all predator screens this bad?

I did check those windows settings, like I said. But after you look at the details of that panel and see that it has 61%sRGB coverage, you realise why the reds still don't look red, after you've messed around with colour settings (without ruining other colours).
My older laptop has a TN panel (bad viewing angles), but the colour accuracy is 100% of SRGB, maybe that's why I could easily spot something weird on the new laptop.

Thanks! I did actually add "ltt" to some of my google searches, but guess I need to go into their forums to do a more thorough search than what google got me.

People shouldn't settle for horrible colour accuracy on laptops (regardless of it being an IPS panel). You don't need to be an artist to visually notice anything below 90% sRGB. I had to return my laptop because that screen is just unacceptable.

Hi, I didnt notice that there is a similar case. I recently had a replacement for my old laptop (Mainboard issue) with a new Acer Predator Helios 300 with this screen B156HAN13.0. Whilst it has 120hz, but the color production is really bad. I wonder if there could be any solution, such as replacing a new screen 144hz with better color production, since my screen has 40pin connector?

If you bought that Helios 300 new, then don't you void the warranty by replacing the screen? If you can, try to get the model of the new screen panel you want to buy and check that website I mentioned on the first post.

In my case, I checked a couple of different laptop models inside a store and asked the staff to check the screen model (in device manager). That way I could see the screen quality in person and check the specs online.

    Hi NeburWolf,

Thanks for your comment. My case is a bit different with yours. I did not buy a new laptop, so I could choose what I want. A bit long story, so I bought the first Acer Predator 300 as second hand, then its mainboard was broken. I asked for a replacement (took 40days to do so), they replaced a new one, same specs (I9750Hz, 1660ti, etc...) and new screen 120Hz. So I cant choose but to accept this. Wish their either could let me to pay extra money for 144hz, or replace the exact same one.

I see... the connector should be the same, but I've never replaced laptop screens, so I can't help you there.
