Question about uninstalling Predator Sense / Keyboard illumination

Hi,

Helios 700 user here (2019 model)
As Predator Sense is limiting me from using my laptop's full potential (max out CPU performance /set-up silent low energy CPU performance profile/ Adjust GPU fancurves) I thought about uninstalling Predator Sense, as the recent updates have not made the software better and install Throttlestop and MSI Afterburner instead, going with 2 CPU profiles / 2 GPU profiles that can be switched via key combo.

Sadly, when uninstalling Predator Sense I lose complete controll over my keyboard illumination and sound settings as they are integrated in Predator Sense (I really wished they would not put keyboard illumination, sound settings and OC in one software).

Is there an Acer software I can use to only access the PS sound features and- more important!- the keyboard illumination? Uninstalling PS leads to the keyboard stuck in loadup disco mode, running crazy coloured lights all over the keyboard nonstop. Who thought that this should be the standard state of the keys???? I can not work with a keyboard on lightshow.

So, as I see my options right now:
a.) Stick with Predator Sense and have barely any control over my CPU settings (sadly, I can not edit them via the old method shown by hotelhero anymore) and GPU fans, abandoning every idea about switching between power mode and silent mode.
b.) uninstall Predator Sense, get full control over CPU and GPU, but get crazy as the keyboard is set to Need For Speed lightshow mode.

Is there any option to simply install the keyboard controls (and audio, if possible) instead of Predator Sense? I paid 3000k Euro for my laptop, I would really like to tune CPU / GPU without having to worry about crazy lights on my keyboard.

    Guys i cant unistall predator sense it missing msi package and other files i do all things since unistalling predator service (just delete) and registry/all physical files. Every time i want to install new version it ask me to unistall previous(

    Don't want to sound rude, but it has nothing to do with my topic besides that you want to uninstall Predator Sense.
    Better had openend an own topic for that.
    I also have no solution for your issue.

    What is the exact model? Example an515-51-75kz. Have you checked if there is a Post and Animation option in the bios or something?

    Hi and thanks for coming back to me.
    It is the 2019 Helios 700 / Ph717-71 with a 144 Hz screen and an 9880HK processor / RTX 2080 and 32GB DDR4;

    Sadly, the laptop does NOT have the option for Post Animation And Sound, but simply Sound. Which is set to off.

    Funny enough, the Predator Sense Software has a button to turn off post animation and sound, but it only turns off sound with this model, so every time I boot up my laptop I have 20 seconds of funky coloured rainbows jumping over my keyboard. Always fun in business meetings -.-

    I just do not get why Acer puts high end enthusiast hardware on the market and then puts a software on it, that totally limits the user in using the hardware to full extent. Why do my sound settings, keyboard illumination, fan settings and OC all have to be controlled by the same software?

    Here you can see the funky key colours jumping across my keyboard while I can not stop it via bios.
    In the top right it says "animation and tone"...well, it does half of that.

    So I can either chose to have control over my sound and keyboard but no real control over my gpu and cpu, or I can control my gpu and cpu but have funky disco on my keyboard and lose all possibilities to use different sound profiles.

    I just did a bios update, to see if that would add the feature. It does not, but it turns out that it reset the setting in bios and the animation that does not play is the Acer skull (???) showing up on my screen with a "woooosh" sound. (Who thinks 12 year olds buy 3k Euro laptops?)

    Turned it back off, but the issue described is the same.

    I just want an app that controls my keyboard illumination / settings without having to use the horrible predator sense.

    I will call colleagues @billsey, @xapim and @JackE to participate in this topic. However, I think the only way to disable keyboard animation is to disconnect the backlit connectors on the main board.

    Thanks for bringing them into the discussion. It is quite sad that when you want to use a laptop without a certain software, you have to disable keyboard illumination. I mean, that is so anti - consumer.
    Do you guys know who at acer I could contact about this issue? Most support guys will be the regular telephone service operators with limited knowledge.

    Ideally, Acer's engineers should check the possibility of adding this feature to the bios.

    Yeah, I would be glad if Acer would keep overclocking software seperate from peripheral software in the future. If one is faulty, it affects an unnecessary amount of components.

    Next time I will better buy my products from another brand, as I do not want to step into this trap again with an enthusiast level product.
    In hindsight, I would not buy it again, even though it has already a good performance. But that is the only thing where the laptop delivers.
