Hello, I bought an Acer Iconia A501 tablet, this is repackaged. I'm in Uruguay and the tablet is blocking AT & T, but this company in this country does not work. I need the network unlock code to use the tablet's 3G service. I appreciate if you could get me that code in some shops have told me that maybe you could help me.
Thank you very much for your attention.

The A501 is designed to be locked to AT&T's mobile network. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an unlock code for this device. Sorry for any inconvenience.

You can contact AT&T, provide proof of purchase from ebay, or wherever. Then provide proof of world outside the USA to AT&T (A map will do) Smiley Wink Then ask to pay the US$30 fee for unlocking.

(They do this routine for unlocking phones and tablets for non-USA use.)

I came across this messages, and there is something I'm missing here ...

I never had problems with ATT in requesting unlock codes for A501 (I did it for three different units). So it IS NOT ATT in my humble opinion.

Lately I received a fourth code from ATT (for yet another unit) but the code did not work: "unable to unlock network".

ATT Customer Service re-run my ticket, and confirmed the code as it "came from Manufacturer" .....

    Is ACER the problem here?

I think it must be locked at the point of original sale to AT&T. I would contact ACER for a fix.

Suggest that you contact your local ACER offices, however I am not sure what they will do.

I would say that if you wanted to deal with something that doesn't work as it's supposed to,

you would have bought a "no-name" tablet in the first place.

    Nope!

Both IMEI and Serial NR check out with ATT product.

This is not a "no name" thing, positive.

That was a bit unclear. Tell them that "if you didn't want your tablet to just work when I bought it, then I would have bought another brand."

    Solved!!

To everybody : YOU CANNOT UNLOCK THE TABLET UNLESS YOU GO BACK TO 3.2 ANDROID VERSION.

I had an upgrade to ICS 4.0 and the unlock code provided by ATT did not work.

I downgrade back to 3.2 Honeycomb and it went flawless ...... tablet UNLOCKED!

Again, thanks to ATT to provide the code without any problem.
