Hi guys i need a little help, ive just bought another 8gb ram of the exact same as the first 8gb and it wont work in the second slot.both ram sticks work in the first slot but nothing in the second slot ( the bios has a constant beep when only using the second slot).
Things ive done are reflashed bios, ran windows memory diagnostics, removed and reseated while powered on,(this worked in my old predator pc to detect new ram).
cpu z is showing the slot as empty.so its either a windows problem or a bios issue.i have two t3 710 motherboards and both have the same issue.im out of ideas.im on the latest bios.B1.

    to whom it may concern,
i finally figured out what went wrong with this non working dimm slot, before i bought the 8 gb new stick i removed a 4gb ram stick from my old acer predator(ddr3 1333mhz) thinking it may work,so i plugged it in and nothing.so i went online and bought a new stick.thats where the problem stemed from, the dim slot default settings changed(to what i dont know)and even worse theres no bios options to reset this.time went on i just left the 8gb ram stick in the non working dimm slot, but i needed more ram so i bought a z170hd3 with ddrsl support, and just to check if my hunch was right i popped the 4gb ram stick into the first slot and low and behold the same error.so now i just get a constant beep(siren) going off when i boot it up.both dimm slots no longer work.i will never buy a oem system again nor i will i ever recommend them.i would however recommend the (the z170h3 ddr3l with dual bios support for a lowly price of 70 euro.

to all >>DO NOT PUT ANY OTHER RAM STICKS INTO AN EMPTY SLOT.

    Dear Coolhandduke11,

People always put memory sticks to empty slot to expand memory. Before you bought the memory stick, were you sure the new stick matched the specification of the original stick? How old is your PC? I know older laptops probably use DDR3 memory. While DDR3L memory sticks came out later. They use different voltage. DDR3L uses less voltage. Here you are mixing DDR3  with DDR3L, so that is the problem source.

Also, that long error beep has meaning (in your case probably means memory problem).

did you read the full post!
i reread it and it pretty much answers what your asking.the pc is a aspire t3 710 from 2016.
the 2 dim slots no longer work at all.the board is now flatlined and will never work again.
the bios lacks the option to reset dimm slot settings.

O.K. I did not not  read the post close enough. If both motherboard second slot (now is both slots) had the same problem then it must be design fault. Just wonder other people had the same PC have the same problem? In just four years , 2 DIMM slots failed on both motherboard? There must be other reasons for that. For the mean time cannot think of any.

They wouldnt have failed had i not tried the old 4gb ram stick first.while it is a bug in the bios they do come in a working condition.the after thought is to make others aware of the issue.
There,s no way joe public could know this happens, while troubleshooting i found this to be a common problem of dimm slots not working, people just hadnt figured out why they dont work.they fail if you drop in an incompatable ram stick.my end test clearly proved this to be the case.

Informative! Not easy to come to narrow down the problem without two motherboards.

You dont need a second board when the results are conclusive from 2 dimm slots, while i was toubleshooting i found non working dimm slots to be quite common but never found the reason for it until i replayed my own process.i dont know if this is just exclusive to oem motherboards and there lack of real bios options.either way they are partly responsiable for this even being an issue in the first place.they,ve lost themselves a repeat customer.i paid a 1k euro for hardware which is readily available from china for a fraction of what i paid,i recently bought an e5 xeon that is twice the speed of the i7 6700 for 40 euro.i got 8 cores and 16 threads.oem  system days are numbered.
