I have a Acer Aspire A515-41G which is making beeping sounds when the charger is plugged in.  The beeping sounds are 10 to 15 seconds apart and are about half a second in length.  I can't figure out what it is.  I have unplugged the cord and reset the battery and turned it back on as well as restored the bios to default settings.  It still makes the beeping sound.  Any idea why?

Repetitive beeps suggests the battery is occasionally supplementing power demands that are not being fully met by the charger. Do you have a 65 watt charger? Does the beeping frequency seem to change with task manager loads?  Jack E/NJ

It is a 65 watt charger.  The beeps have not changed in frequency with regards to CPU load or ram load.  I tested both up to about 60%.  The beep frequency was usually 3-4 beeps with an 10 second spacer and then 1 beep with a 15 second spacer.

Open DeviceManager. If no red or yellow warnings, click the batteries folder. Right click on each device driver that you find in the folder and uninstall it. Exit DeviceManager without re-installing anything. Shut down Windows normally. Turn machine back on. Jack E/NJ

Well, I never got around to doing that.  I figured uninstalling the drivers would destroy something.  I ended up rolling back my system using the system restore option to a previous date.  The computer ended up crashing.  I dunno what happened.  2 year computer life isn't bad and this was the only problem, I am not complaining.

Uninstalling software drivers destroys nothing. Try this. Unplug the charger. Gently insert a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the machine for about 30 seconds. At the same time, press and hold the power button. Then plug the charger back in. Wait until the battery charge LED turns from orange to blue. Then try to turn the laptop on again. Jack E/NJ

Are you getting a blue screen error message? Does the ACER logo appear when you first turn the machine on? Jack E/NJ

The Acer logo does appear and a blue screen error message appears:  Stop code: Critical Process DIED

It then restarts itself with Acer screen and 'Automatic repair mode' ...'Diagnosing PC'...'Restart/Advance options.

None of the options for recovery yielded any results.  I ended up at a page that said the following:

    D:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

Try this. Shut machine completely off. Then turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key. Another recovery screen should appear that should let you refresh the machine while saving your personal files and reset the machine to a factory fresh condition. I would try to refresh the machine first. Jack E/NJ

I've tried that, it did nothing.

I also tried this fix and the config folder had no files in it.  Also, the drive letters got mixed up.  I have 2 hard drives (C & D).  Before I rolled back the operating system, the C drive was the hard drive with the working operating system and the D drive was the data drive which was solid state and just had files and folders.  After I rolled back the system, the D drive became the drive with the operting system and C drive was the data drive.

This happened after the AMD driver update that came out this week.  I'll contact them.

Aye. The ALT+F10 will only work on the original one drive setup AND with the D2D recovery option enabled in the BIOS Main tab. I'm not sure an AMD update would cause something like this. Jack E/NJ

I couldn't get the computer back on.  I'm gonna transfer files from the hard drives and then take it into a shop to look at.

    Thank you for your help.
