  • What is the exact model of the notebook? Example AN515-51-75kz. The newer models do not accept legacy bios.

Hi there, I updated the bios of my notebook and then failed to locate UEFI boot sector, it can only boot up after I switch it to Legacy mode. How can I use UEFI mode again to boot up my computer? Should I change it back to previous bios and how could I do that? Many thanks.

Sounds like your boot drive was somehow converted to MBR partitioning.  Did someone previously try to install Win7 on this machine? An MBR partitioned drive will only boot in Legacy mode. If you want it to boot from UEFI mode, the drive must be converted to GPT partitioning and Win10 or Win8.x reinstalled. Jack E/NJ

It only happen after I upgrade the bios, the drive was running in windows 10 and still is even I boot it up in legacy mode. It so happen that it won't recognise UEFI boot sector after I reload the same version of bios.
  • I think it is possible to convert mbr to gpt, without losing the files: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/convert-mbr-to-gpt-disk
However, I advise you to back up your files.

I think it may not be the case. I have other backup drive that can be booted up in UEFI mode on other notebook but not on this one. It would seem that the notebook itself confused after I reload the same bios. I mistook it an update version to the one I had.

Yes, something is confused. But the fact is the drive is now MBR partitioned if it only boots into legacy mode. You can try to convert it to GPT as recommended by @egydiocoelho but it may not properly recreate the EFI partition needed to boot in UEFI mode. So again, as @egydiocoelho advised, you better back up the drive before you do anything.
