Use recovery media with GPT Partition Recovery in BIOS?

I've been unable to start my Aspire ES 15 laptop. I have the recovery media from Acer. If I try to start recovery by pressing Alt + F10 I eventually come to a black screen. The same is for using the recovery media.
If I remove the GPT Partition Recovery in BIOS, will I be able to use the recovery media to restore my laptop?  Are there any instructions, tutorials online for this procedure?

With the machine turned off, insert the ACER recovery USB into one of the USB slots. Then turn the machine on and immediately start tapping the F12 key. (ALT+F10 is not used with the USB media) You should be presented with an option to boot from the ACER recovery USB drive which should allow you to re-install to a factory fresh state or recovery your system while trying to save your personal files or try to repair your existing system in the advanced troubleshooting section. Thanks for the answer Jack E/NJ, but as mentioned, "The same is for using the recovery media".

Yes, but are you using the F12 key to boot to the ACER recovery USB stick? Jack E/NJ

Yes I am using F12 to boot from the USB recovery stick, with F12 enabled.

What is your full model number ES1-5xx? When you boot to the USB recovery stick, do you even get to a menu of options? In particular, do you have a troubleshooting/advanced section option to choose from? Jack E/NJ

When I boot from recovery USB I get an icon for about 10 seconds and then a black screen.

    (1) What kind of an icon?
    (2) Did failing to start happen suddenly for no apparent reason?
    (3) What happens when you turn on the machine and immediately start tapping the F2 key?

It's an Acer icon, unless I try using the legacy bios, it's the Microsoft Windows icon.
Failing to start happens suddenly for no apparent reason, and it only takes 10 to 20 seconds.
If I start tapping F2 I go to the BIOS settings.

The BIOS menu settings MUST be in UEFI mode or the ACER recovery stick can't load properly. If it still doesn't load, you could have a bad or wrong recovery stick. In the latter case, you can create  generic Win10 installation media using a new stick and Microsoft's media creation tool to install it on the drive. Seems I cannot boot from the USB recovery media unless I use the legacy BIOS, which doesn't work.

You must use UEFI mode!!!! Make sure the  the F12 and D2D options are enabled in the BIOS Main tab. Then turn the machine on and immediately start tapping the F12 key. You should be presented with a menu to boot from the USB stick. If you don't get this menu, then reenter the BIOS. Make sure the HDD or SSD is described in the Information tab. Then set and save a BIOS supervisor password in the Security tab. Then re-enter the BIOS with the supervisor password and disable secure boot. Then try it again. But you must stay in UEFI mode.  Jack E/NJ
