Well, the good thing is that you can at least see through an external screen ;)

As for the problem, it could be that the LCD gave up the ghost, or simply that the cable that connects the LCD panel to the motherboard is pinched in some place and that makes it not work.

If you're not afraid of opening your laptop, take out the bottom part (or top part, you didn't say which model you have) and look for the cable that comes from the LCD to the motherboard, it should be near the hinges. Ensure it is not pinched by any other metal part for example and power on the laptop while it is opened. See if there's a difference.

Also! When it is powered up, shine a light at the scrren, like the flash of a phone and see if you can make through things, it could also be that the backlight has died and the panel would need to be replaced.

In any case, should you feel all of this to be too risky to do, call Acer and have them check the laptop. They'll surely find the fault ;)

thank you. It is a aspire E1-522 laptop. Have you any idea how mutch it wil cost me to let it work again. Some people say that it cost 120 to 170 euro. And a new one 500 to750 euro. But i rather have it fixed because it is a good laptop.

It depends on the failure, and whether you do it yourself or you have to take it to a shop or a servicing center.

For example, if it was just replacing the LCD panel, a new one could be acquired for say... 50€ for example, even less looking at local companies that deal in LCD panels, and if you were to install it yourself you wouldn't have to pay more cash, but you'd pay with your time. In a shop, a fair shop, I would add some 50€ max for labor and the like because the operation is generally fairly easy and can be done in under half an hour.

The panel has to match, by matching I mean that it would have to have the same connector in the back, in the same position and the same anchoring points (some come with places where screws go to hold it against the frame). All that is easy to know once you take the frame apart.

Depends on the machine, I'm not acquainted with the E1-522 but it doesn't seem too involved being not too recent. Probably just plenty of screws to take out and put back in.

But that is if the problem is in the LCD panel, if the panel is good but it is the cable that is damaged for example it should cost less. And if the failure had to do with the motherboard itself, then it would probably be better to buy a new computer or use it statically with an external monitor all of the time.

It's hard to tell from here I'm afraid :(
