Out of nowhere i get bluescreened. Through auto repair troubleshooting NONE of win 10 options work. CMD prompt + reset both ask for bitlocker key. In attempts to bypass this, BIOS is now asking for a password that I've never had in 1.5 years. Get it wrong 3x then it asks for an UNLOCK password. What fresh hell is this? Im at a complete loss. Many thanks for any help

Let's keep your problem here and not go to the other thread because it's a different matter.

You have never set a BitLocker key? I remember a recent case that was similar with a guy that whose data partition became BitLocker encrypted out of nowhere, supposedly.

But I'm afraid you got yourself into another, bigger problem. The one with the BIOS, if it indeed is asking you for an unlock password I'm afraid you'll have to get in touch with Acer directly (phone) because we cannot offer any other assistance from over here. There's no way (I think, I could be wrong and another person will surely correct me) to boot the system in that state and trying to bypass it is something outside of the rules of this community.

Call Acer and tell them what happened, they may ask you for some sort of record of purchase or maybe to send the computer to a servicing center.

That's the official way of solving this at least.

Thanks but what's the unofficial way of handling this? Isn't that why this forum exists, so we dont have to pay acer for support when their ***** craps out after the first year? There has to be a hack. How charming they know we know this much and more but will sit on a bug fix for the highest bidder. No way I would EVER send anything back to china with all this going on.

OK I hacked the password issue, but I still need to know how to install the bios update from https://www.acer.com/ac/es/MX/content/support-product/7629?b=1
    Anyone?

I just saw the comments haha, even if I knew it I wouldn't be able to tell you a way to bypass any kind of security in your Acer product. We're to abide by the Community Agreement after all and follow the rules laid out there. Same goes for remote control for example, many times it would just be easier to log into the PC of someone requiring assistance to perform the steps yourself, but that is also prohibited (both offering to do it and being offered to do it).

So we are to resort to explaining steps to follow and wait for input on whether they worked, or not, etc. etc.

As for upgrading the firmware, I think there's a recovery mechanism in place, but I have never performed it myself. It involves creating a recovery flash drive with the BIOS file in it and then use Fn + Esc when powering on the machine, but I don't know the specifics. Look around the forum, it may have been detailed before.

Or, if you're able to boot from a USB stick you could run the flashing program directly from a Windows installation media or a Windows PE image for example, I believe that would work too.

FOUND ACCOUNT! I signed into my account, but it says my bitlocker needs to be turned on, even though it is blocking me from access since a recent update!  All phone support is redirected to fee-based? Waiting for a lackey 'advisor' to come on chat
