Hi folks,

I have just bought a WD Blue type M.2 M&B SSD 250GB SSD drive, when installed it shows up in the main BIOS menu but not in the boot menu.  Looking in Windows 10 disk management it doesn't show up at all, I cannot see it to initialise it.  In legacy BIOS mode it shows to boot from but windows won't boot, I'm new to the SSD thing and I'm a bit stuck.  Can someone please help me on this one?

Thank you so much, take care.

Phill

    Hi,
Go to BIOS settings, move to Advanced tab, click SATA configuration and check whether they are enabled, if not click and enable it.

    Hi,
Could you please go to Disk management(right click start) and check whether it shows as unallocated drive.

I formatted SSD and Windows recognizes it. I also made a clone between HD and SSD using the software EaseUS. But when I try to change the boot order in bios setup, SSD doesn´t appears there.

Can you check whether SATA mode is in AHCI or RAID in BIOS. You could also try removing the HDD and keep only the SSD and see whether it's showing in Boot tab.

Does disk manager show it as a boot drive ? (Healthy (System, Boot, Active...)

maybe, the boot mode of the SSD is uefi instead of bios. To change the firmware mode, Boot the computer into boot menu by pressing a specific key during bootup. You can consult the manufacturer on this matter. Usually, the key to open boot menu is the Esc, F2, F9, F12, or other key. On the boot menu, select UEFI or Legacy.
after you boot from ssd, you'd better create an SSD Backup image for your computer. It can restore your computer to a previous good state when any problem occurs.

You have to do a fresh install of Windows from a flash drive, but put the drive in and boot to USB.  When you install Windows just select the SSD partition and install as normal.  Works a dream :)

@Shaun1234 I did a clean install of Windows, when I installed the SSD with Windows already installed it didn't show up.  Only when I did a clean install of Windows did it show up.
