Hi;

I retire my old Aspire V3 and go to a new A715.
Would like to just install my actual SSD into the new pc, but then of course the drivers will not be ok.
I have downloaded all new A715 drivers.
Will it work if I start up the new pc with the old ssd and then install all the pertinent drivers of the new model?

If not; How could I proceed better?

Thanks for any help!

    Ideally, you'd make a clean installation in your new PC because most of the hardware have changed even if you swap the drives and have the hardware drivers for the new machine Windows will refuse to boot without some configuration. Re-targeting for a new machine will also invalidate its activation.

    I think the best course of action would be to get the important data out of the SSD and then proceed with a clean installation in the new machine (and reinstall your programs and all too). That is what I'd do at least, it's the course of action that leads to fewer headaches if/when problems arise and you get the benefit of having a clean system installed.

    It's like changing from AHCI to RST in the same Machine, Windows won't like it unless you make a stop through Safe Mode in-between.

    I wrote a guide not long ago detailing the process here: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/893916/#Comment_893916

    It's worth a read even if you end up not doing it because you'd learn about the and it is an easy process even if it seems daunting.

    I have never used Casper or BitLocker to be honest, but I can vouch for clean installations, many headaches are avoided that way.

  • What is the exact model? Example an515-51-75kz. I agree with colleague aphanic. However, I advise you to back up the stock operating system provided by acer in the event of a disaster:

    Thanks both of you!

    the new pc is:
    + I also have a new license of Win10Pro

    Yes; I have several updated complete backups (Casper secure disk backup, because I use Bitlocker) that I can use to copy back all files as needed to the new pc.

    I understand that setting up the new pc from scratch is the best option, but I tried not need reinstall all my programs once again.
    But; for sake of good operation I will do it, as you suggested it is certainly better.
