Liquid Metal Re-paste

Hi I brought in my Nitro-5 Laptop for an extra 8 GB of ram, cleaning and a re paste, I picked it up today. The IT guy used 'Liquid Metal' and after running a few benchmarks I concluded that the temps were higher than before, BTW my CPU is an i7-8750h, GPU temps were normal though. I am genuinely concerned he applied it wrong and possibly didn't apply electrical tape. I am also worried as he used liquid metal and its serious risks to laptops and computers in general. Any answers and solutions will be appreciated.

Liquid metal is very dangerous especially for laptops, I would take it to a service center for removal of the metal and re-paste with a standard thermal paste

Also, half the cores have normal temps during stress test around 75 but the other half have around 95.

Thanks, I'll take it in hopefully tomorrow to be removed

You have to do it as soon as possible as the liquid metal "eats" other metals except copper but let`s not forget that liquid metal will permanently plate the copper.

Alright, I have sent the IT specialist a detailed message and that I will have the computer ret
urned and ask that he would reapply normal thermal paste. Not liquid metal, considering I have spent $210 for everything I expect it to be done for free.

Let`s hope it will be for free... Do you have a document from the first procedure? If yes keep it because if the metal has caused a damage already you can claim a repair.

No I have not. But I feel obligated that if my PC does end up being destroyed, I feel that I will be compensated.

Hi just wondering does liquid metal have a settling in time, so maybe after a day the liquid metal would've spread out so that the temps are normal. Ill quickly do a CPU test tomorrow and see if their are any improvements, also the GPU seems to be perfectly fine, even better. 20 degree difference. Linus Tech Tips did this and it turned out fine. Ill still remove it and put in normal paste but It might be alright,

Idle temps are completely fine though

Usually liquid metal is the best thermal solution, but as stated it is dangerous and not recommended for laptops at all, but it`s up to you, it`s your laptop at the end of the day.

Alright, the IT specialist said that it wasn't liquid metal and no worries. Its thermal paste from the 2000's, like not from that period but it was designed then, the heating is because the paste needs time to settle in and I've ran some stress tests again and from 95 degree average its 80, which will continue to decrease. I can rest easy
