i really regret that i bought this acer laptop computer and i HATE it too  much. i takes me as long as 10 minutes or more just to boot or turn on.  It is too slow.  i HATE it that i want to break it apart and toss it in the trash. I vow to myself i would NEVER buy this useless ACER again, not in my life time.

    May I ask which model it is? Full model please, like A515-54G-70Y9.

    By the timing I'm guessing it has a mechanical hard drive, and that could be the source of the matter. They're still being installed in some models because they can cheaply achieve larger drives.

    We could try formatting it all to get rid of the programs that come preinstalled and just leave you with the basics for your to install whatever you wish, maybe it'd go faster then, but first I'd like to know the model because if it had an SSD or an Optane caching module such experience could imply a problem in the machine.

    In any case, there's a guide here on how to cleanly install Windows: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/893916/#Comment_893916

    Oh! It's a desktop! That changes things, next question would be, what's the model of the hard drive? You can see it in the Device Manager, this is what we're looking for:

    I ask because not only could it be a slow 5400 RPM drive (vs. 7200 RPM) but also employ SMR, which long story short isn't that interesting for system drives. Unfortunately most if not all manufacturers still sell some computers with only mechanical drives installed instead of even a caching module or a small SSD for the OS.

    The good news is that because it is a desktop it is easy to upgrade, you could buy (more money, I know... :() a small 120GB SSD to be used as the system drive and keep the 1TB hard drive for data. The difference between mechanical hard drives and SSDs is enormous regardless of the brand or even if they have a DRAM cache.

    See the following video (it's old, it was 8 years ago and it was a laptop, but still) for a comparison:

  • Yes, upgrading to an ssd is an excellent idea. However, make sure these tips help you:
    a) check if the consumption of the hard disk, processor and memory are close to 100% and send a screenshot:

    b) disable some unnecessary ones in msconfig and clean up the disk as an administrator:

    c) uninstall the antivirus you have;
    This model has a 2280 m2 door, see:

    I see!! The one you posted earlier pointed to a desktop so I treated it as such.

    In any case, the same information still applies, but now we don't even need the reference for the hard drive inside; I have yet to see 1TB 2.5'' HDD that don't employ SMR in one way or another.

    I'd tell you what I'll do if I were in your case, I would replace the drive with a 2.5'' SATA SSD, get an external SATA to USB enclosure for the disk that is right now installed in the laptop and use it for backups or something. And install Windows anew in that SSD. Depending on the items the cost could be around $50 for example, and it would be well worthy. Things files would get fragmented too, but because the time access to each sector is the same it won't matter.

    There's no real way to speed up a mechanical hard drive without Optane, and your laptop doesn't support it I believe. There used to be programs that made part of the RAM available as cache (if you get a Samsung SSD, its Magician software can do it for even more speed), but I have no real experience with them.

    Do what @egydiocoelho recommends before though, in case you have many things running in the background eating up resources making things slow, or try to reformat the drive using the guide I posted.

    For disassembly, look for videos in YouTube, there are for the G variant of your model (it just has a dedicated graphics card as well) and they're valid, they teach you visually how to disassemble the laptop and it's not complicated once you get to it ;)
