[Acer A515-51G] Replacing New Ram, No display

I'm facing a strange problem. I am using Acer A515-51G. The ram in the external ram slot got damaged. I've replaced it with a new one. I've tried three branded rams of 2400MHz and the display is not turning on. But when I insert a non branded Chinese ram, the display turns on and works perfectly.

Any solution for this?

There may be no solution I'm afraid, what are the differences among the sticks?

There's a lengthy but detailed thread on upgrading the RAM in a machine, while it's not your case I covered some things that can be source of incompatibilities. Summing up:
    • The timing and sub-timings of the sticks (specially if there are soldered RAM as well).
    • The number of ranks in the sticks, 1R vs 2R.
    • Something else that escapes me, some motherboards have firmware upgrades to enable support for different RAM, so...
Drop by the thread for more info and see if you can make something out of it. Details on the RAM sticks you have, since you can't boot, may be legible in the stickers glued to them. At least the number of ranks and CAS latency, maybe even full primary timings: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/896245

And if you have on-board memory look for its specs with any of the programs shown in there.

    Thank you for your response.

I forgot to mention something. When I first bought Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM, it worked perfectly for a week. Then the problem occurred.
At present, if I use Micron 8GB DDR4 Memory 1Rx8 PC4-2400T-SA2-11, SO-DIMM SDRAM 260PIN, it boots up perfectly. If I insert
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM, the display doesn't turn on.
And also I think that the mentioned two rams above are quite the same in specs.

Here is the info about the integrated ram on my motherboard.
    Memory Type            DDR4
    Memory Size            4 GBytes
    Channels            Single
    Memory Frequency        1064.4 MHz (1:16)
    CAS# latency (CL)        15.0
    RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD)    15
    RAS# Precharge (tRP)        15
    Cycle Time (tRAS)        35
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC)    374
    Command Rate (CR)        1T
    Uncore Frequency        798.2 MHz
    Host Bridge            0x5904

I see, could you run Thaiphoon Burner and post a screenshot on the one that's integrated? I want to know what kind of timings it supports for DDR4-2400 because there may be more timings for the same frequency:

Disregard the first notice and then:

The ID number on that stick tells us more about its timings without plugging it in. It may have more profiles but at least, being 2400T, it's a 17-17-17-(14.16ns?) RAM, and per the specifications page of the Crucial one both are single ranked modules. I've seen some pictures someone posted that claimed it was that Crucial stick and had memory chips on the other side too, but it wasn't as crammed as the top side. Still, odd for single ranked memory I guess.

If you can, also post the same data from Thaiphoon when the Micron stick is connected, to see if we can know why it works. Ideally we'd need the one from the Crucial, but since the machine doesn't boot we can only go be its markings.

Matching on-board memory with sticks is complicated, some are picky af.

    Sorry for responding late.
I got this error message while running Thaiphoon Burner.

Unfortunately, the Micron stick is not with me right now.

I think Thaiphoon doesn't like the embedded RAM, I don't think it has to do with the system management bus, but since we're on the matter might as well check it in case it lacks an up to date driver. Could you post its hardware IDs? They're visible in the Device Manager (double click the SMBus and go to the Details tab):

I know I'm asking for a lot of things, but could you also post what HWiNFO says on the on-board memory? It may be able to show us its profiles, not all of the different ones for a given frequency, but still (right click open in a new tab for a better view):

Seems like my device is missing the things you mentioned in the pictures.

Can you please tell me what drivers am I missing?

Yecause I don't have any device with only on-board RAM I didn't know what to expect to be honest.

But there's interesting info there! Looking at the HWiNFO report (not the summary, it's empty because it apparently only lists RAM sticks) I see that the RAM your laptop has is actually clocked at 2133 MHz, CL15 with the primary timings being 15-15-15-35.

Because the memories we were talking about were 2400 MHz, I'm guessing that the ones that fail either have no profile for running at 2133 MHz (unlikely I'd say) or their timings at that frequency are different. But since profiles aren't advertised out of the box, because people looking for 2400 MHz RAM usually tend to need it to run at 2400 MHz, only those at that clock speed are publicized.

The system management bus has a different name, but it's there hehe. It's called "Mobile 7th/8th Generation Intel(R) Processor Family I/O SMBUS - 9D23", chances are you don't need it and everything is as it should be (it's just Thaiphoon that isn't capable of reading on-board memory); but just in case I have attached some chipset drivers which are just placeholders (there's nothing else needed to be honest).

Sometimes, depending on the manufacturer, there are drivers for the system bus. I think both Synaptics and ElanTech have them, but I wonder if they actually do something or are just more placeholders...

Summing up: Matching memory for the integrated one should have a profile to be run at 2133 MHz with 15-15-15-35 timing.

Thanks a lot for your detailed information. Really appreciate your assistance on this matter. 😊

Most of the computer retail stores are out of stock in some components due to Covid-19.
As soon as I find 2133 MHz ram for my laptop, I will let you know the update.
    Thanks again, man!

No problem! I hope it all goes well! I find it hard to get 2133 MHz SODIMMs over here too.
