My Acer Aspire A515-41G Won't Start Up Properly

My laptop isn't starting up correctly. I can turn the laptop on, but that's about all it'll let me do. The screen is completely black and holding the power button won't even turn it off either.

I don't really know if this is relevant, but I went on a trip with my family about a week ago and it was working just fine before then. I don't know what could've possibly happened to it in the time I was gone.

    Remove the charger. Gently insert a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the laptop for about 30 seconds. Then plug the charger back in. Wait for the charge light to turn blue. Then turn it on again. Jack E/NJ

    Thank you for responding so quickly, but that didn't work. I did exactly as you said but nothing's changed.

    Edit: I probably should've mentioned this in the original post, but the screen is completely black as in it isn't on at all. The laptop itself is on, but nothing else is working.

    Did you try to press the FN+F6 key combo to toggle the screen back on? Jack E/NJ

    Yes, but nothing happened. It seems like in general anything I do on the keyboard doesn't register.

    If any of the laptop's LEDs are lit, press & hold the power button for only 30 seconds or until they go out, whichever occurs first. Report back.  Jack E/NJ

    I tried holding the power button for 30 seconds but it didn't turn off, so I tried holding it down until the LED went out. I think I was holding the button down for about ten minutes or so, and the LED is still on. The only way I seem to be able to turn off the laptop at the moment is with the pinhole on the back.

    I recently had a similar issue on my laptop. When you press the power button to turn the laptop on, does the LED stay on or does it blink slowly? If its the latter, then first press the pinhole for 30 seconds, after that press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. The laptop should turn on hopefully.

    It's the former, but I tried what you said anyway. It didn't work for me unfortunately.

    Looks like you'll have to remove the back cover to try to reset the keyboard connector a few times and check the operation of a mainboard safety switch. To do so, you must first remove the HDD & RAM doors and HDD itself. Then 17 screws holding the base cover. Then turn the laptop  over and start prying the top and base apart starting from the upper left hinge area and working your way around counter-clockwise. Jack E/NJ
