Predator Sense shows System Temperature 50 degreeC when idle (Laptop model : PH315-52)

Hi All,

In my PH315-52 laptop, Predator Sense shows the system temperature around 50 degreeC (room temperature around 30 degreeC), even after leaving the laptop idle for more than 30 minutes.

Idle CPU usage is around 8% with Predator Sense contributing to most of it. Don't you guys think this temperature is a bit high?

I am always connected to power source. I have tried enabling cool boost in predator sense, which does increase the fan speeds. But I don't find any change in System Temperature though.

Any ideas how to bring it down?

Thanks in Advance !!

    Hi Jithesh
Updates! Windows updates could be a potential issue. Did you check if there were any updates going on in the background - you'll need to open task manager in administrator mode or click on view all processes to view these.
check.you POWER PLAN MANAGEMENT , RESET to.Default Maybe.you touched anything
U forced the Processor work at full .
thats why even .IDLE  STILL high temp ,

I am pretty sure the system CPU is not working on any background activity. Windows Updates are disabled and I see the same temperatures even when there is no network (wired/wireless).

I am seeing this from the beginning, that is; after initial system configuration itself.

    its normal.
even on my laptop it shows the same temps.

btw, what does this system temp measure, which chip on the motherboard., or which part on the motherboard.?

No clue. That's why I am worried. Also, the area above the keyboard is always 'more than warm' and it becomes 'untouchable hot'  when gaming.

Jithesh its completely normal the system temp its not the cpu temps its the mobo components/chipsets temps and its also normal that the keyboard heats up a lot where the heatsinks are situated pretty common on any gaming laptop so nothing to worry about :) my system temps are min 41 max 52

When you say max 52, is it during idle or when gaming as well. Cause when gaming, my system temperature goes 80+. Isn't it bad for the motherboard?

Mine go above 85 and I'm super worried that my motherboard will get damaged

Shantanu7 optimise your windows properly and undervolt  make sure the back is lifted 2/3 inches for a proper airflow if the temps are still high only repasting it with kryonaut or similar if you can without voiding the warranty will fix it or send it nack to acer to get it repasted with stock paste

    Good luck

From the screenshot, I could see that your fans are running on Auto mode. This is bad setting while gaming. Put it on Max with Coolboost ON. Once changed, you should not see CPU/GPU going beyond 75. Agree that it is going to be hell noisy, but considering the longevity of CPU/GPU, I would recommend you switch to this setting when gaming.

if the game is not demanding on cpu you can disable the turbo boost in windows power options and temps won't go above 70 degrees.

I've done some benchmarks with/without turbo boost and there is hardly any difference in avg fps on 1080p max settings.

Rise of the tomb raider: no turbo boost Average framerate  :   96.1 FPS
turbo boost on auto fan Average framerate  :   99.1 FPS
overclock profile + max fan Average framerate  :  107.1 FPS

Tomb Raider:                 no turbo boost Average framerate  :   125.8 FPS
turbo boost on auto fan Average framerate  :   121.5 FPS
overclock profile + max fan Average framerate  :  135.4 FPS

Batman Arkham Knight:   no turbo boost Average framerate  :   71.5 FPS
overclock profile + max fan Average framerate  :  79.8 FPS

I've also attached the benchmark txt file with 1% low framerate   and  0.1% low framerate if you are interested in this.

Also you can try to limit the fps to 60 unless you do play competitive MP even though in my opinion 60 fps is enough for gaming.
