Hi,

I have Acer Swift 314-54 model N17W7 core i5 8th Gen with 8GB RAM & 1 TB HDD. Since bootup takes forever, I want to replace the HDD with a NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD.

Can someone please advise if NVMe SSD is supported or if I should go with a SATA SSD. Crucial compatibility shows SSD only. However, I wanted to confirm.

Also wish to upgrade RAM. But I dont know if my RAM is DDR3 or DDR4 as it doesnt show on memory info.

RAM details:
SODIMM 2400 MHz (2 of 2 slots used)

Your advise is greatly appreciated.

    Yes, the SF314-54 supports NVMe SSDs in the M.2 slot as well as Intel Optane memory for systems with a HDD instead. Since yours came with just the HDD you may have an Optane in there and you will replace it with the new M.2 SSD. Your memory is DDR4 and the MB supports up to 16GB in the two slots, so individual SODIMMs of up to 8GB each. The SG shows memory as 2133MHz, but it looks like the later versions used 2400MHz as Mat1987 shows. Check your memory speed first to make sure you are matching speeds with what's there now.

    Hi Billsey, Thanks a bunch for the detailed answer. just placed an order in amazon.ae for the following;
    1. Crucial P1 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD 500 GB CT500P1SSD8
    2. Crucial 8GB RAM DDR4 Laptop SODIMM 2400MHz 260Pin 1.2V - CB8GS2400.

    Hopefully, after this upgrade, I would have a much better performance with the Laptop.

    Hi gurus,
    I installed a Silicon Power SSD PCIe M.2 NVMe 1TB Gen3x4 R/W up to 3400/3000MB/s in my SF314 54 replacing the Optane memory card set there; I:
    1. switched the BIOS from Optane to AHCI;
    2. disabled the fast boot option.
    The system rises the no bootable device error; the same error when I remove the Optane and I leave the slot empty.
    please let me know whether the problem can be solved or I have to send the device back to Aamazon.
    Thanks.

    Did you clone your HDD to the SSD?
