Hello,
I own various acer notebooks and i had a similar question yesterday for another swift3. This time I am speaking about a swift 3 314-52 with an i-3 and intel skylake architecture. i installed a sabrent nvme disk in its empty m2.slot and it shows up (see photos) attached to a pci3 3.0 x2. that means it should go near 2gb, approximeately something like 1700/1800 mb.  but in reality it goes not even at 500 mb. i know that in every-day life-it does not really matter, but i would like to understand the reason why it goes so slowly. it seems to me that the whole nvme-architecture is full of bugs and inconsistencies. Thanks a lot for your time.

Wolfgang

  • Is your model the sf314-52? What is the version of the bios? Can you give the exact model of the ssd sabrent?

Hello! Thanks for your answer! Yes it´s a Swift3 314-52. The Bios is the last version 1.09. The Sabrent is a SSD 512GB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280. Whats strange to me is that sometimes it links to the correct link speed 8.0 GT/s and other times to 2.5 GT/s. I have installed the newest Intel Chipset drivers.
  • Have you tried to update your ssd sabrent firmware? https: //www.sabrent.com/firmware-update/

Unfortunately there is no firmware for the rocket 512 GB in the download section. Maybe you have to write directly to their support.
  • I would like you to send a photo of the bios information tab, as it shows the exact model of the ssd. Also, download the sabrent program and check the ssd model, see:

    Thanks for your answer.

Thanks for your quick answer. I attached some photos and pdfs hopefully to understand better. The bios does not say much. Anyway there is a pdf attached with the exact model of the disk. I attached also a discussion in april 2019 on this board where a user reached nearly 4000 MB/s with a Crucial P1 NVMe (true?). The problem is maybay the whole architecture skylake i-3 of the 7th generation which is in my notebook. It seems to throttle down easily the link speed ogf8.0 GT/s to a miserable 2.5 GT/s (Photos). Maybe there is nothing to do about it.

    Hi,
Your Hynix is a SATA SSD and showing the correct speed, from your previous post, it shows correct speed for Sabrent and Hynix, 2.5GT/s shown in HWiNFO64 may be for the SATA SSD.

Thanks for your answer, brummyfan2. No, no, I re-installed Win 10 Pro on the new, (hopefully) "faster" Sabrent-Disk. The Hynix-Disk is used for data, not for the operating system.

No problem, when I look at the speed tests, one with the R/W speeds(3275/3349) is for Sabrent and the other for the Hynix drive, both readings look good for NVMe and SATA drives and believe there's nothing to be concerned in my opinion. I have attached the readings for WD PC SN512 SSD in my AN517-51 for you to compare.

Everthing ok. For the 2 acer 314-52 withe the Sabrent Rocket 512 GB i reach about 1800 Mbyte/s (because the intel architecture cuts the speed from 4x to 2x), For the 314-41 i bought a new Sabrent Rocket 1TB and now it goes up to nearly 3500 Mbyte/s which is fantastic. I am quite happy about the improvements. So have a good time!
  • What you can try is to uninstall and delete the driver from the sata ahci controller, as the ssds are based on the standard driver provided by windows:
