Try resetting the machine to factory fresh using the ALT+F10 cold boot method as shown in the video below. If the touchpad still fails immediately return it to the vendor as defective for an exchange or refund before the vendor's RMA policy period expires. Acer warranty service will take longer. Jack E/NJ

Could you check something for me first? Open the Device Manager (press the Windows key and X, a menu should appear near the Start menu, it's in there), check whether there is any yellow triangle in a device (or unknown devices) and whether you have any Intel Serial I/O controller in the System category.
I ask because in the A515-54Gs with Comet Lake processors the toughpad seems to be wired via I2C through the Serial I/O controller, meaning they won't work unless they have those drivers installed.
If you have anything regarding Intel's Serial I/O in the support page for your device try installing those also and see if the problem goes away.1 -
Update the Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller- 02E8 and it should work. You can find it under System Devices in Device Manager as it says above. It worked for me. Cheers.

Hi. I am facing the same problem. I've just bought my laptop aspire 3 A315-55G-WH and the touchpad doesn't work.I've tried FN+F7, went to the BIOS menu put the touchpad options are not there, also in the settings of the laptop there is not such an option for the touchpad as if it doesn't exist. I tried installing the drivers but still it isn't functioning. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me.2

I have an Acer 5-15-43 and the touchpad is not working. In the Device Manager, under System Category, there is no Intel Serial I/O listed at all. So how can I install or download that as it is required to download before i download the driver? And, there are 2 touchpad drivers to download. Does it matter which driver to download? Thank you for any help. I appreciate it.0
