Helios 300 temperature spikes by 10-20 degrees celsius once plugged in

The temperature instantly jumps once plugged in. I've tried a new charger, which did not fix my issue. I've tried reinstalling predatorsense, as well as using HWMonitor. The jump makes it extremely hard to use under load, any recommendations?

  • What is the exact model of the notebook? Example AN515-51-75KZ. Can you send a screenshot that shows the temperatures on the hwmonitor or nitro sense?

PedroRamos284 have you optimised your windows properly (check my signature) and undervolted if not do so check here if your temps are still high after you need to get it repasted with kryonaut or similar if you can yourself without voiding your warranty or send it to acer to get it repasted with stock paste also make sure the fans ad exit airflow are properly cleaned and make sure the the back is lifted  2/3 inches at all times for a proper airflow cpu shouldnt go above 85'ish and gpu 70/75 max

My model is the PH315-51. In the attached image you can see three big spikes in the CPU graph, that is me plugging and unplugging my charger.

Sakuraleif spikes are normal whats not normal its the constant high temps also the pic you posted your on battery or the battery was used recently i suggest you only use it on battery for light works only never use it for gaming you will damage your battery and make sure the battery its 100% charged and on AC before you start any game also you need to calibrate your battery properly once every 3/6 months and if youre interested in the new PS for your model check my thread here and follow the exact steps

The temperature is fine (I've repasted, changed thermal pads, and cleaned inside, accurate temperatures can be viewed when unplugged), but the readings increase and become inaccurate instantly when I plug in my charger, making the laptop thermal throttle heavily when it shouldn't be at all, or at most very little.

Spikes are normal? I know the temperature will be higher plugged in, but it shouldn't instantly jump 10-20 degrees, that's impossible.

Edit: I should probably note that it also instantly goes right back down when I unplug.

Sakuraleif its completely normal the temps to go up plugged it because the cpu will turbo boost on AC it will not boost on battery so you will loose all performance on battery and also damage your battery  you need to follow what i said in the first post in order to solve your temps issues and u most probably will have to repaste it or get it repasted if your temps arent going above what i said when gaming youre fine if they still are after optimizing/undervolting you have a bad repaste get the best thermal paste there is (kryonaut) and use the spread method only a thin layer covering both diodes its enough too much paste its bad also you said you replaced the thermal pads they should only be replaced if they are damaged otherwise theres no need and hopefully you got the correct ones otherwise the heatsink wont sit properly and will cause thermal issues and real accurate temps can only be viewed when on ac and gaming not on battery youre completely mistaken anyway good luck

But it's unusual for temperatures to instant jump, they should steadily increase. I have repasted, I have replaced the thermal pads and I have also cleaned out the laptop.

Sakuraleif idle temps on AC depend on your windows optimisation if not optimised properly there will be higher cpu usage due to many background processes that makes the temps go higher even on idle again read my first post and the one before this one and follow the steps you have all that your need to fix your temps in those posts again good luck

My PC is optimized just fine, I'm at 5% or lower usage. Unplugged my idle temps are 50-60, but the second I plug my PC in they spike 10-20 degrees and become unstable, sporadic. My charger isn't the issue, and neither is predatorsense. I'm likely going to try resetting Windows soon, so any other solutions would be greatly appreciated. If nothing else helps, I may send my PC to Acer, as this behavior seems extremely unusual.

I have the same issue on my nitro 5 AN-515-42. i found temperature is changing constantly with cpu load within milliseconds which also makes fluctuating fan speeds. i think there is no output from temperature sensor instead nitrosense show prefixed temperature with respect  to cpu loads. do you guys have any solution?
