Hi all,

I have a small issue with booting up and installing windows on my newly purchased Acer Predator Helios 300.

Upon start of the laptop, I see the Predator logo flashing on screen.
after that, the laptop goes straight into EFI SHELL.
I figured this has something to do with the boot order, so I restart the laptop again, to enter the BIOS.

After entering the BIOS, when I go to BOOT, there is no other option to select but UEFI_SHELL (see attached image).

Has anyone encountered such an issue and is aware of a possible fix? I’m a bit clueless right now kn what to do.
thank you in advance for helping.

So what is the problem? There is no OS preinstalled on the laptop, therefore you have only efi shell. Make a bootable windows/linux usb (GPT,  UEFI- non CSM) and install.

The computer looks attractive but whats inside a box looks a little sloppy: they sell Helios 300 without CD rom, but with a warranty is instructional cd included and there is a lot of html pages with 404 error. Doesn't expect for a product with such pricing rank. I would be better to include some bootable usb room and factory settings for USB booting you hardly access.

and thank you for the answer! It's nothing similar in the setup guide. Indeed there is 2. Run power and 3. start windows10...

CD/DVD ROM is obsolete technology so no laptop after 2017 is shipped with it. To get a bootable media in the package first you have to pay for the OS even then you will get OS preinstalled and not an USB drive.

I mean cd-rom drive build in the laptop, at least this is what I have understood from your post.

Sure, but they put in factory DVD into the box with a new laptop. Anyway, this help a lot with installation:
Guys....see here the only way which I.found and work

    1) download a windows 10 iso using Microsof tool:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209
select the proper windows 10 version (the same installed on your laptop) and choose to save it as iso file when prompted
    2) download Rufus:
    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US
plug your USB flash drive, run Rufus then:
select ISO image from the dropdown menu near "Create a bootable disk"
Click on the little icon on the right and browse to the windows 10 downloaded iso file
as Partitions scheme select "GPT partition scheme for UEFI"
    as File system select "FAT32"
    Click on Start
wait until it finishes, then unplug your USB flash drive

    3) with the USB flash drive plugged to your PC, boot to BIOS press Del key

    4) look if F12 boot menu is enabled, if not, enabled it

    5) press F10 to save and exit

    6) reboot and press F12, choose the USB flash drive as the bootable device (choose it in the security field in Bios)

.. reboot it more time with bios to recognise USB as a choice (it could be saved in Bios but not immediately recognised after reboot)

    7) then continue with windows 10 installation

jcvikl Theres no laptops with cd/dvd rom anymore if u need one buy a external plus if you bought the laptop recently should have the os pre installed unless the seller sold it cheaper and explained there was no os in that case follow the steps advised above in other case contact the seller and demand a unit with os pre installed the factory os comes in a recovery partition pre installed in the unit there is no dvds anymore the license its built into the bios itself DarrylF if youre not happy return it and demand a proper unit with os pre installed this is not normal procedure at all but some sellers format the drives and sell them cheaper without any os or in some cases even comes with only a linux useless command shell which has to be formatted and windows reinstalled
