Randomly but often, my touchpad will stop responding.  it will work right away again after I lift my finger off and retry the action.

The laptop is brand new.  I have tried safe mode, driver removal/installation. I have updated the BIOS.  I have reinstalled windows and still have the same problem. Anyone else have the same problems or have any troubleshooting ideas?

    Hi,
Could you please check whether you have Touchpad Options(Advanced/Basic) available in BIOS under Main tab, if you don't have, while you are in the Main tab, press Ctrl+S buttons together and see whether the option appears, if it's shown then switch to Advanced.

Ok, I checked that. I do the ctrl-S and nothing comes up for "advanced" or any "touchpad" settings at all. I will include a pic of the BIOS screen. I have updated BIOS to v1.29. which is the current version offered on the Acer Support website.

Is there another way to find this setting?

    Hi,
You could try a battery reset, switch off the laptop, disconnect the mains, press Power button for 12seconds, let the laptop rest for a while(10-15Mins) then reconnect AC adapter and fully charge the battery before start using it.
If that doesn't help, try reinstalling Intel Serial IO driver, go to Acer support and download version 30.100.1915.1, then extract the zip file and save it to the Desktop, uninstall the current driver for Serial IO in Device manager and right-click Setup.exe file and select "Run as Admin" in the extracted folder to install the downloaded driver.

The battery reset did not fix anything or bring the BIOS touchpad advance settings.

    Hi,
The battery reset will eliminate minor glitches but it won't change anything in BIOS, anyway, right-click Serial IO I2C Host Controller A369, click Properties and uninstall the driver in Driver tab, then install the downloaded driver, repeat the process for A368 as well.
