    ok I am new to ssd's. I will give your suggestion a shot and see where it goes. opps forgot to send. well it would only let a fresh install. but You rock. had to assemble a win laptop as we boycotted them, but the win tool downloaded via windows worked. thanks bunch. lost data but saved unit.

    Yes, that's pretty much the same here since retiring their last half-decent GUI, Win7. My ACER & HP machines are now set up with the nearly same look, feel. function &, most important, stability of the Win7 GUI, only they're all running MintCinnamon 19.3. Windows developers pretty much shot their collective foot off with Win8.x. Then shot the other one off with their new, short & vastly unimproved lifecycle policy. Some OS cognoscenti even refer to it as an open window of opportunity to finally break the status quo in PCs with an alternate GUI.  :) Jack E/NJ

    also using mint. but only a few months. U just saw mint 20 is out. I have just 2 issues, 1, i cant print pdf, it will spit the whole tray out with 1 line gibberish so I copy past into office and pint. and 2, i keep getting a pop up that something is low on? I just remove time shifts. good for a few days. LOL
    so your sig file of NJ is that New Jersey?

        What is whole tray? In Windows? Or Mint?

         Low on what? In Windows? Or Mint? Timeshift is a nearly useless Linux backup. Just like some of the nearly useless Windows backup stuff. Better/safer these days to clone or migrate the whole HDD or SSD to another HDD or SSD via a USB port. High capacity HDDs & SSDs are super cheap these days.

    using cups to print in linux. but it is my printer that is not compatible. I can deal with it.yea
    i bought a sdd for the acer for my customer. I got to retrain him on how to save to external hdd I gave him for external storage. see they came way down now. might just have to upgrade myself
