Hello, basically the title is the question:

How can I switch to AHCI Mode on my TravelMate P614-51T-G2. There is no SATA Mode option in the BIOS and ctrl + S does not uncover anything new.

Thanks.

  • You must press ctrl + s when you are on the main tab. If that doesn't work, what appears when you access the device storage configuration function?

i have the same question for b117, bios looks similar.
my reason is that my SSD shows way lower IOPS than it should, and this is mentioned on the internet as a possible fix.

I have surprisingly solved the problem. After I have booted Windows in save mode and rebooted twice I was able to hit Ctrl+S in the Main Tab of the BIOS and the SATA settings appeared. Before this I was there 10 times and Ctrl+S did not worked. So I think the safe mode was crutial to set the BIOS settings free. Hope this helps.
  • @Satas It is more likely that the fast startup was interfering with something. I don't think that safe mode intervenes, but that safe mode disables some drivers. Maybe intel rapid storage was interfering with something? Even so, accept my answer that helped you and your own answer.

What I found as this happened to be. Two brand new p614s I was setting up onsite. Had to do the bios update to allow charging from the type c dock and after the update they wouldn’t boot. It was defaulting to Optane without Raid.

I panicked and then found this post. I found you had to be on the main tab. Hit ctrl s and it doesn’t appear to do anything but when you hit the down arrow the SATA mode option appears.

I was trying to enable the SATA mode using Ctrl + s and it still won't show the SATA mode. Also, I cannot access Windows since I installed Ubuntu on my laptop and it wiped out everything. All I need, to run the Linux, is to change the SATA mode to ACHI. Can you help me with this?

@RAAONE do you have exactly the same model laptop, and exactly the same version of the BIOS? Most BIOS versions don't have the extra menu entries that CTRL-S reveals in this model.
