I just bought a new Acer Swift 3 laptop at my local Microcenter, and I bought a Window 10 Pro upgrade at the same time. I've done this numerous times for our office, but not with Acer. After running the Windows 10 Pro setup and Installing WIndows I found that Windows 10 Home was still installed. I tried changing the product key to the WIndows 10 Pro key I bought, but got the message "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a difference one. (0xc004f050)". Next, I tried booting from the new DVD and installing from there. Same result. I even tried wiping the drive and installing from scratch from the boot drive. Same result.

I've seen several posts in this forum that say to solve the problem by entering the new product key, but that doesn't work. How to I get this computer upgraded?

Yes, I know the Window 10 Home product key is in the BIOS. The question is how to bypass/change that or whatever and upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Does no one on this forum have a solution?

Various postings elsewhere suggested using the generic key VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T . I tried that. At first it looked like it was going to work. I got the message, "Upgrade your edition of Windows / Upgrading your edition will add new features to Windows. Before you start, make sure to save your work and close any apps. / The upgrade might take a while and this device will restart. You won't be able to use this device until it's done."

However, shortly thereafter I got the mess, "Unable to upgrade your edition / We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license key, select Troubleshoot below (0x803fa067)"

Navigating to Get Help > Troubleshooting only results in the message "It looks like Windows 10 is already activated on this computer."

Are Acer laptops simply not upgradable? Is there an Acer help number I can call? If I don't find a solution I'll simply have to return this computer and get a different brand.
