Hi All,
I have an Acer Nitro-5 AN515-43 laptop with Ryzen-5 3550H. The laptop comes with a Crucial 8gb DDR4-3200 (1600Mhz) stick. I have noticed that the Windows Task Manager is always showing 2400Mhz than 1600Mhz. Is this because of Ryzen Motherboard? So if want to upgrade another 8gb of RAM, then shall I go for 3200Mhz or 2400Mhz. Please help me out.

Thanks in advance !

The crucial website link doesn't help because they don't talk about Ryzen CPUs separately. The YouTube video is using DDR4-2400Mhz Ram.

Yes, you can install either a DDR4 2400MHz module or a 2666MHz module. The 2666 will run at 2400 though.

Will both the Rams run in dual channel ?

"So if want to upgrade another 8gb of RAM" If you already have 2- 8GB dimms, you need to go to Matched 2-16MB dimms of 2400MHz or 2666MHz and they will run in dual channel.  I believe 1 2400 and 1 2666 would also run in dual channel, but buy a matched pair.

You have to get the same like you alredy have in your laptop in order to heve dual channel. The memory controller in the CPU supports up to 2400, however if overclocked the ram could run at higher speeds

The existing RAM has 3200Mhz, but CPU runs it at 2400Mhz. So if I buy a new 8gb RAM of 2400Mhz, will it run in Dual channel or I should get another 3200Mhz RAM ?

I told you already. No they will not run in dual channel mode. They have to be specs. wise the same.

I'm getting confused here. The existing RAM having 3200Mhz is currently running at 2400Mhz because of Ryzen 5 CPU. So even If I put another 3200Mhz RAM that will also run @2400Mhz. Therefore both RAMs will run at same speed of 2400Mhz. So why the dual channel won't work when both the RAMs are running downclocked at 2400Mhz?

Because of the CL and the rest of the timings.

So if I match CL and voltage then it shall work in dual channel ?

All the of the specs have to be the same. What`s the deal with getting 2400? Is it cheaper? You better get the same one.

Crucial DDR4-3200Mhz is not available anywhere. And as it is running at lower frequency by CPU so I was thinking to buy 2400Mhz and it is cheaper.

You could try but I can`t asure you that you will have dual channel...

It might or it might make both of them run at 3200. If the 3200 is running fine at 2400, why dont you buy another 3200 exactly like the one you have? It would be a matched pair with the same CAS latency and would be cheaper or buy a matched pair of 2400.

Actually no DDR4-3200 is available in market right now. I have checked in Flipkart and Amazon.

Hello Brother, I also have the same problem as yours!!
So I would like to ask you which ram you installed finally and whether its working in dual channel mode or not.
    Kindly help me!
