Aspire S7 always wifi disconnected (limited connectivity) with my router TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

As subject, S7 and TL-WR1043ND both use latest update/firmware.

Different channels are tried but failed.

I use my mobile S3 AP, problem still exist.

 

I think "Qualcomm Atheros AR5BMD222 Wireless Network Adapter" is faulty.

 

Can Acer technical help?

    I had contacted Acer Technical HK, they told me to have a close look to the latest update only.

    I will see if there will be any future updates could help for a while before I bring this S7 to service centre.

    I think this is not only the problem I faced.  Many users of S7 had same problem.

    I wonder whether I have to reconnect wifi for every 5 to 10 minutes when using Aspire S7. (Really annoying)

    Is this the cost of using latest OS (Win8) and latest design (Aspire S7)?

    Are you able to tell me which version S7 you have. Is it the S7-191 or the S7-391?

    Hi wong2047

     

    Can you please try the following:

     

    Download the latest driver from Acer Support site.

     

    - Please make sure the version of the Wirelesss Lan Driver to be downloaded  is: 10.0.0.217

    As this is a combo dirver it will also upgrade the bluetooth to 8.0.0.214. Hence the big filesize 220MB.

    - Go into control panel and remove the current wireless lan + bluetooth drivers.

    - Once removed you can go through and install the newest downloaded driver.

    - Restart S7 after installation.

    How to roll back to previous driver? My wireless is also having the same issue after the recent update.

    Hi Nelkang,

     

    Did you remove the previous driver before installing the new driver?

     

    This will need to be done before upgrading to new driver.

    Hi Chris,

     

    My wireless driver has been version 10.0.0.217 already though it is updated by live updater.

    I will follow your instruction to remove the existing driver first and reinstall the latest one through download.

    One more question, if I remove the combo driver, will my bluetooth driver automatically roll back to version 8.0.0000.0206 (older version) or I have to reinstall bluetooth driver again? Is Version 10.0.0.217 a combo driver?

    I will get back to report the result.

    Hi Wong2047

     

    10.0.0.217 is a combo version so will have the updated driver for your bluetooth aswell. Will try and find the version it updates bluetooth for you.

     

    You will need to completely remove the program and possbily go into device manager under >Network Adapaters> wireless and uninstall the wireless driver by going into properties if it is still there when you remove the program.

    Hi Chris,

     

    After allowing your instruction to reinstall latest driver, my S7 goes wireless for nearly 6 hours without disconnection.

    At last, I got a lovely toy.

    Need to uninstall Bluetooth? I had uninstall wireless and reinstall but still having the limited connectivity issue. I had since roll back to the older driver and not issue with the wireless at all.

    1. I removed program/application the name like ""Qualcomm Atheros..bluetooth and wireless...application". (not from Device Manager)

    2. Then I check that at device manager there has been no driver for Qualcomm Atheros existed at the network adaptor.  Though certain bluetooth drivers still there.

    3. I noted that S7 got a "no wireless connection" icon at the system tray, which means that It cannot go for wireless.

    4. I reboot S7 once.

    5. Then I install the downloaded driver, the combo driver.

    6. I reboot S7 again.

    7. Done.

     

    So, I did not deal with any uninstallation of any standalone bluetooth driver.

    This worked for me too.

     

    Make sure you have a note of any passwords for wireless networks you use because the uninstall of the previous drivers deletes all profiles.

    I was having the same problem even with the latest driver. Enabling IPv6 on my router seems to have fixed it though.

    I have an Aspire S7-391.  Love it.  Wish the screen would flip, but I knew that when I ordered it. 

     

    I have found COUNTLESS complaints about the wireless connectivity issue.  Huge problem for me.  The reason I bought such a slim ultrabook was portability...this the wireless MUST be reliable.

     

    Love the noteook, but I am REALLY disappointed in ACER for putting this product out to market in this condition.

     

    I will spend my entire Saturday morning updating the driver to see if that fixes the problem.  However, I just don't see the common user being able to do this without a great deal of aggravation and confusion (I'm a techie). 

     

    Where I love my utrabook, I couldn't possibly reccommend this product to my colleagues or friends.  Shame on you ACER.
