Hi,

I have bought and installed additional 8GB of RAM to my aspire 5 (A515-51G-51CA). However, I have noticed that laptop started to switch off unexpectedly few times a day while working. After removing the memory everything starts to work stable again. Do you have any idea where this issue could come from? Could it be something wrong with compatibility, RAM module or drivers? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Installed RAM module: GoodRam DDR4 SODIMM 8GB 2133MHz CL15 (GR2133S464L15/8G)

Problem could be in low quality chinese ram module you bought, but also problem could be with incompatibility with other module you got in. Try only with new one and see what happens, if it does the same thing then you'll know ram module is faulty so you can return it and buy same module as it was inside.

    Regards

Hello, I've faced the same problem recently. I was using Crucial 8GB DDR4 2400MHz Laptop RAM according to the compatibilty list. After 2 days working fine suddenly it stopped working. When I put the ram in the external slot, the display goes blank. :anguished: Found no solutions yet.

@hedera , is your problem solved yet?

@xfloiem nope. Still have the same problem as described in first post - laptop is working with additional RAM but it switches off/crashes unexpectedly few times a day. It was too annoying so I had to remove the RAM and am working on build in 4 GB only.

@hedera I've also faced that unexpected crash while using the ram. Seems like I've to replace it with a well branded ram.
