I have a few questions regarding ram upgrade for this model:
1. How does adding extra ram affect the performance of the soldered ram ?
2. After adding extra ram, will it default to whatever the speed of the soldered ram is ?
And if so, what's the speed of the soldered ram ?
3. Is the motherboard single or dual channel memory ?
4. What ram manufacturers are most compatible with this model ?

No problem, go to Task Manager(press Ctrl+Shift+Esc buttons together) move to the Performance tab and click Memory in the left pane, you could view the memory speed at the bottom right(highlighted in my previous snip).0

Hi,
1. It depends on what you do with the laptop if you run out of memory often, increasing memory will improve overall performance, you can check your system memory usage in Task manager.
2. Yes, the new RAM will run at the speed of your onboard memory, to utilise dual-channel mode you need to add another module to match the size and speed of the onboard memory, you can check the speed of the onboard RAM in Task manager.
3. The motherboard is capable of dual channel but there's not much difference between single channel and dual channel in my opinion.

4. I wouldn't pay attention to any particular brand as far as memory is concerned because they all perform in same manner, more famous modules are Hynix, Samsung, Kingston, or Crucial.
