    Years old, probably the original

Remove battery. See if machine will work on charger alone. Jack E/NJ

Seems to be stable, so a new battery pack from eBay?

Amazon is probably more reliable. Less than $20 with free shipping. Jack E/NJ

Probably overheating. When's the last time you tried to chase dust bunnies out? With a shopvac or vacuum cleaner, alternately vacuum the air intake ports and blow air through the air exhaust ports to chase them out. Do it two or three times. Then see how long it stays on, again without the battery. Jack E/NJ

    Hi Jack
I use a air compressor to blow out any dust, I have booted up, no battery as instructed, it gets to screen acer, press F2 to enter set up, then clicks and goes off, this is on repeat

Gotta start eliminating other removable devices one by one that might be causing it to trip off. HDD. RAM. Start with the easiest. Disconnect the HDD. See if it stays on. Jack E/NJ

Now the question is, does it stay on without the HDD? Jack E/NJ

Is 30 minutes the longest it's stayed on since the problems began? Jack E/NJ

OK. Turn it off again. Remove the charger. Keep the hard drive disconnected. Then reconnect the battery and charger. See how long it stays on with the battery back in there. Jack E/NJ
