Hi All,

So I just got a new laptop ph315-52-7018  and after I shutdown its reboots and turns back on. I have to do a hard press on the power button to get it to shut down. I have updated the BIOS and tried turning off fast boot as well.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Press Win+R. Enter 'sysdm.cpl'. Click advanced tab. Click startup & recovery settings. Uncheck auto restart. Make sure system log is checked. Then shutdown. Then turn it back on. Then search 'event viewer' in Windows start menu. Check for errors or warnings immediately before shutdown. Jack E/NJ

    (1) Go to the elevated command prompt. Enter 'sfc /scannow' . This'll check for and repair corrupt system files.
    (2) Uninstall, don't just disable, any non-Microsoft virus scanners like McAfee, Norton, Avast, Malwarebytes, AVG, etc. Windows Defender & MSRT are all that most folks need.

Then check the event viewer again for errors immediately after the next shutdown.

This is just weird the only error was a Prefnet error and a cloud error again, I did scannow and it eliminated the steam error. I even reached out to ACER their level 2 people are supposed to call me tomorrow, but there initial support staff didnt help much.

    1. Go to Windows Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings.
    2. Click Choose what the power button does, then click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    3. Disable the Turn on fast startup feature.
    4. Save changes and shut down the PC to see if the issue has been fixed.

IceBear4168   already tried turning off fast startup. There are too many other variables to play around with so I recommend a full remove everything ALT+F10 cold boot factory reset. Shut the machine off. Then press and hold the ALT+F10 key. Then press the power button to turn the  machine back on. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below. Perform the full factory reset. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then immediately return the machine to the vendor as defective for an exchange or refund before the vendor's RMA returns policy period expires. ACER warranty repair will take longer. Jack E/NJ
