As i was closing the laptop,I noticed a crack sound. The left hinge broke. I believe this was from usage and not from actual accidental damage. I do not have a warranty although I am planning to buy another extension. Everything else, including the screen are absolutely fine. I have been reading articles about hinges and i have seen that they take over 20 days and are incredibly expensive to repair them through a service, and now everything is even harder due to the COVID situation. What should I do? I literally cannot close the lid. I was thinking of maybe adding glue to it but i don't think that is the best idea.

Opening the laptop can be an option but I want to avoid this at all costs, I do not want to risk my screen and completely break it.

I am seriously thinking about trying to glue it, I would like a quick fix. Replacing the hinges look very complicated.

Hello, I have the same problem with my Nitro 5. If you still have a warranty, go to service or wait like me for quarantine to end. I leave my laptop simple open at the position where it is mostly fine and not cracking anymore.
Do not glue it. It's NOT even glued, those things aren't supposed to be glued. If you do so shop where you bought it can easily deny your repair/refund request.
Also its cracked cover, not hinge. Which is very often problem on Nitro 5.
PS: Make sure you type your model name next time.

My laptop has been upgraded, can I buy the warranty again and get it repaired for free?

I have the same problem, left side of the screen broke off completly just by simply opening up the screen. It's my third laptop from the acer, always fall for the price and always have some kind of problems with them, this one is the biggest one tho. You kno there are lots of ads kinda stuff (not acer) where they show you how they test the buttons by clicking on them 9999999 times, test the shoes by squeezing the tip 99999 times ecc. and tbh I was expected the hinge that's installed on soooooo many of their laptops to be tested just as well, we aren't talking about some company with their power plans in some dark basament under someone's house....are we? Yet such a basic thing like a hinge... never tested for sure at this point as there way too many complains about it in years already (my friend has the same issue on another model). Obviously will try to avoid any acer production if it will be possible at this point if they don't care about their own products. If can't make a decent product at xxx price, then simply don't, make it with better materials and more expensive.

My warranty is no longer valid but I see I'm not the only one with the same manufacture problem with left hinge being damage on computer. ACER please step up to assist everyone who is having issues. PLEASE!!!!
