Where Can I Find This Old Desktop?

I bought an "Acer Veriton M265 Desktop" back in 2010. I had the sales people roll the OS back to WIn XP. I upgraded it with a Corsair TX650W 650-Watt Power Supply, an EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti SuperClocked Ed 1GB video card, and a RAM upgrade.

It lasted until about last month when the capacitor on the mother board blew. Now it takes a looooong time to boot it up. Just my luck.:(

What I need to know is if there is anywhere I can buy a new-in-box "Acer Veriton M265 Desktop". If I can can get one then I can put the power supply, video card, RAM, and harddrive in the new computer. And it will work just fine then.

Does anyone know where I can get one at?

Let me know.

Hello ArielSchnee, you will be extremely lucky if you can find such an "old new stock" device. I was an IT pro for a  long time and I would suggest you may need help from a local technician/computer expert. Your options would be: 1. Find someone able to do a "board level repair" and change the blown capacitor in question (keep in mind there are lots of capacitors on a Motherboard and if one failed, there might others close to doing the same). 2. Find another up-to-date Acer desktop compatible with the updated components and transfer the same to the new computer. 3. Find a replacement Motherboard (spare Acer part or generic) to replace the failed one in your desktop, or... 4. Forget everything else and buy a brand new kit. Acer Desktops in mini tower format do offer very good value for the money, especially when sale priced. Good Luck with your search.

    *Awww...*

I was an IT pro for a  long time and I would suggest you may need help from a local technician/computer expert.

    *How? Where? And how much?*

    Your options would be:

    1. Find someone able to do a "board level repair" and change the blown capacitor in question (keep in mind there are lots of capacitors on a Motherboard and if one failed, there might others close to doing the same).

*They said any attempt to fix it would wreck the motherboard.*

    2. Find another up-to-date Acer desktop compatible with the updated components and transfer the same to the new computer.

*I was told modern motherboards can't do Win XP.*

    3. Find a replacement Motherboard (spare Acer part or generic) to replace the failed one in your desktop, or...

*I don't think I could change it without destroying the CPU.*

    4. Forget everything else and buy a brand new kit. Acer Desktops in mini tower format do offer very good value for the money, especially when sale priced.

*Same problem as 2. Modern can't do Win XP. And I need Win XP.*

     Good Luck with your search.

    *Thanks.*

P.S. My computer did boot up after I left it on for about 2 hours. I'm not sure if it would again though. I really hope the power doesn't go out again.

P.P.S. I lost all my installation discs for the video card, and other stuff, so that's why I need something I can just plug my Win XP harddrive into. Since it's got all the drivers on it. For video card, sound, and etc. stuff.

Yeah, you are likely going to be mostly out of luck. You might be able to find a used system on the secondary market that still can run XP, but it's been a very, very long time since new systems supported it. Your PSU and maybe video card could be used over in a newer system, but you'd still be bumped up against XP itself. What software are you running that requires XP? Why haven't they done any updates in the last 15 years? :(
