Leave my Aspire 7 plugged in all the time or no ( I use it 8 hours per day) ?

Hi,
I have read quite some threads and went through the FAQ but my question is a mix of a lot of them so not sure what is the best strategy. Laptop is Acer Aspire 7 model A715-72G.

Because of my current situation I need my laptop almost around 8 hours per day. 6 of whom I only watch videos related to work and read pdf and word documents and the other 2 hours I play games.
I have 2 options of how to manage my battery. I can fill it up to 90% and let it go down to 20% (read on the faq that is shouldn't go lower than 20% and in another thread that it is good not to fill it up to max every single time) and do that cycle 2 times a day ( I leave it plugged in and the battery at 100% while I play games), OR leave it plugged in all the time.

I am aware that the laptop should be working with the power adapter power alone when it reaches 100% and that it shouldn't reduce the battery life, if it is plugged in and at 100%, if the workload is small like mine. But I also know that the battery has limited number of cycles ( over 1000 I think, it's a lot but still, 2 - 3 per day is just above 1 year).

So I can't decide if it is better to fill up the battery with the above described technique 2 times a day or leave it plugged in all the time ( note: the laptop is a bit warmer when the power adapter is plugged in so I don't know how much is that affecting the battery because I have read that the higher the temperature the lower the lifetime). I know that someday I will have to replace my battery but I have this edge case and really can't decide which is better because I don't know too much about batteries. Perhaps I am complicating too much but I really want to know as I am partially just curious.

Which way will the battery gonna last longer?

Thank you for reading this and any answer or discussion is appreciated!

I would suggest you taking battery out but since it's internal you obviously can't do that :)

It would be perfectly fine if you use it on AC adapter and every few days let the battery drain to 15-20% and charge it again, you don't have to do it twice a day. That's my opinion, others are also wellcome to comment ofc.

    Cheers!

Yes, I would have done that ages ago, but I can't get it out unfortunately. Thanks for the idea tho!

hi. hoping to get answers from our tech-savvy friends! :) we got our new laptop device about a week now and we notice its battery drains fast. model is A715-42G-R5C5. can i just get confirmation about how many hours do i need to charge it? i use it for online classes, and with google meetings, it doesn't even stay about 2hrs. imagine the 56% battery started using at 8:30 am, it's not 9:15 am yet and it's on 15% already.

the first days after we bought it, it lasts about 6 hrs with google meetings. but afterwards, i noticed it doesn't take an hour of charging light would turn blue indicating it's 100% already. i've unplug it, used it (no gmeets and heavy activities) and it doesn't take even 5hrs on.

is there a problem with the charging time because i take it off immediately as soon as light indicator turns blue? or there is a problem with the device itself? i wanna know how many hours do we usually or do i need to charge it for long battery life? it's our frist time to have laptop btw, we're not sure about all these.

photos attached referes to the duration of the charging time and how quick it reduce battery percent. fyi, i don't do use the laptop, no running apps nor websites. i just observed.

If you use your laptop plugged in for 8 hrs I would disconnect the charger after usage and let the battery drain and whenever you start to use the laptop, plug the charge into the laptop and recharge it whenever you start using it? That is a good practice to recycle a battery every day when using it mainly plugged in. Also and every month, discharge the laptop completely until it turn off with a complete drain of power and then recharge it. I use my laptop the same way and sometimes for more than 8 hours plugged in and that is the cycles that I use and have done so for at least 10 years with no problems as my batteries longevity was always used to its max.
