Hi,
I have read quite some threads and went through the FAQ but my question is a mix of a lot of them so not sure what is the best strategy. Laptop is Acer Aspire 7 model A715-72G.
Because of my current situation I need my laptop almost around 8 hours per day. 6 of whom I only watch videos related to work and read pdf and word documents and the other 2 hours I play games.
I have 2 options of how to manage my battery. I can fill it up to 90% and let it go down to 20% (read on the faq that is shouldn't go lower than 20% and in another thread that it is good not to fill it up to max every single time) and do that cycle 2 times a day ( I leave it plugged in and the battery at 100% while I play games), OR leave it plugged in all the time.
I am aware that the laptop should be working with the power adapter power alone when it reaches 100% and that it shouldn't reduce the battery life, if it is plugged in and at 100%, if the workload is small like mine. But I also know that the battery has limited number of cycles ( over 1000 I think, it's a lot but still, 2 - 3 per day is just above 1 year).
So I can't decide if it is better to fill up the battery with the above described technique 2 times a day or leave it plugged in all the time ( note: the laptop is a bit warmer when the power adapter is plugged in so I don't know how much is that affecting the battery because I have read that the higher the temperature the lower the lifetime). I know that someday I will have to replace my battery but I have this edge case and really can't decide which is better because I don't know too much about batteries. Perhaps I am complicating too much but I really want to know as I am partially just curious.
Which way will the battery gonna last longer?
Thank you for reading this and any answer or discussion is appreciated!
