Hi
My wife has an Acer Aspire E1, Model: Z5WE3, SNID: XXXXXX.  It is struggling a little (performance wise) and I am hoping a RAM upgrade might help.  It currently has single 4GB RAM strip and my expectation was that there would be two slots (the specification suggests there are two). On opening the unit there is space for a second socket but no slot.
Can anyone suggest why this is and is my only option to throw away the existing 4GB strip and replace it with a single 8GB strip

Thanks for any suggestions

    Your model number is E1-510.
You have two RAM DIMM slots for a max of 4gb x 4gb for a total of 8gb DDR3L 1600 SDRAM, it will take an 1866 but will downclock to 1600
Your model shipped with 4gb installed so you can add a 2nd 4gb stick in the 2nd slot

    Dear Jack/Andy
Initially thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.
Not sure why the SNID number was deleted in my original post but its 41804158615.  As to the model, I am a little confused because the sticker on the front says 'Aspire E1-510, but the sticker on the bottom says 'Model Z5WE3.  However my main problem is there doesn't seem to
be a second RAM slot (see photo).  There is space for it on the PCB but the socket is missing.  So unless the second socket is elsewhere on the motherboard, I appear to be scuppered.  Doubly so because on looking on websites like Crucial, 4Gb is the maximum you can get so to achieve 8Gb you need 2 x 4Gb strips.

    Thoughts always welcome
