Hey guys purchased a nitro 5, 17.3 inches 2 days again and from when I opened it, it has not charged to 100% once it reaches 87% it just blinks and won't continue to charge. Is a fully covered under side and I don't have access to the pin hole some nitors have, I'm not really sure what to do and I don't see the point in returning it for a new one , can anyone help with this issue?

If it only 2 days old I would suggest to return for replacement.

Could it be a battery calibration issue?

You could try it will not harm, but since it`s bran new I don`t know if  it`s worth it to waste time, anyway if you are in a mood you could perform the steps below:

Calibrating your battery helps get a proper reading on your current battery charge. If your battery is dying before the reported time given in Windows, it could be that you need to calibrate your battery.

Use the following steps to to re-calibrate the battery:

    1. Turn the notebook or netbook off. Plug in your AC adapter.
    2. Let the unit fully charge, until the battery LED turns off.
    3. Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly when the first logo screen appears.
    4. In the Windows Advanced Startup menu, select Safe Mode and press the ENTER key.
    5. Unplug the unit and let the computer run on battery until it shuts down.

Note: The process to re-calibrate your battery can take several hours, depending on the battery lifetime and age, and the configuration of your system.

If that doesn`t help you can try battery reset:
    Power off the laptop
Press and hold the power button for 15 sec.
Unplug the power cord and wait for about 15-20 min.
Plug in the charger and powe on

The basic calibration of a battery is simple, just let the battery run from 100% capacity straight down to almost dead, and then charging it back to full, plus 1 hour. The battery’s power meter will see how long the battery actually lasts and get a much more accurate idea of how much capacity the battery has left, this is especially relevant to a new battery, which you should do before using your new laptop.

I charged it when we got it and then used it, I have done two cycles so far but when it starts to flash the amber light is at 87% will try one more cycle, if I call acer do they provide RA number or because it less than 7 day I should be able to get a straight swap at my local computer store(Australia has 30 instrore replacemt on most things if faulty)
