Hi to all, i'm new to this Community but i have always owned Acer COmputers and Notebooks.
I have a fantastic Swift 5 (sf515-51T) which works really well in all situations.

I have only one problem from day one.

Sometimes the cursor - touchpad freezes and the pc does not react until i pres the power button to lock the notebook and press it again to unlock it with the fingerprint scanner. Then everything is fine again. SOmetimes this behaviour happens once every two or three days, sometimes a few time in one day.

I have everything updated so i want to know if there's a fix for this.

Thanks a lot

Hello, have you tried updating the synaptics driver through acers site?  Otherwise I would suggest booting in safe mode, then going to device manager and right clicking to uninstall the synaptics driver.  Reboot machine and windows should reinstall the appropriate driver.   I have the same model but don't have this issue.

Now hopefully you can help me out with a question I can't figure out.  Can you tell me if your backlit keyboard activates after timing out when you touch and move the touchpad?   Mine doesn't which seems very odd, i have to literally hit a key for the backlight to reactive.   Never had a laptop that operates like this.

    Thanks!

1)Try to disable then re-enable touchpad
On most Acer laptops, you can press and hold the Fn key on your keyboard, and then press either the F6 or F7 key. ... Try using your touchpad after using this key combination.

2)Go to the mouse properties in Settings (Control Panel) and check if the trackpad is enabled in settings. Hold the Windows Key and Press X. Choose Control Panel -> “search for Mouse” or choose “mouse“. Usually, the touchpad setting is the last tab, it may have any name depending on your device manufacturer such as “Device Settings”, “Synaptics”, or “ELAN” etc. Click on it, and make sure that it is Enabled

Hi to all and thanks for your quick help with my Swift 5.

Following @EJAY81 hints on the Synaptics drivers i searched on the Acer website under downloads for the Swift 5 a could not find them.

I called Acer Support in Italy and they sent me a link for the latest drivers:

    https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/TouchPad/Touchpad_Synaptics_19.0.25.9_W10x64_A.zip?acerid=636789696783779003&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=SWIFT&Step3=SF515-51T&OS=ALL&LC=it&BC=ACER&SC=EMEA_17

I installed them and i'm going to check if the next days the problem is gone. Otherwise i will follow other hints here from @GAMING6698

Concerning the backlit problem @EJAY81 i can tell you that i have the same behavior. The backlit keyboard goes only on when i press a key, not by touching the touchpad. This is really annoying...
