    Also, download any missing drivers from the Acer support site. It's not unusual for laptop drivers to be missing when doing a basic Windows install.

    @onearmedelf try  these steps

    1)Type Sound in Windows Start Seach box > Click Sound > Under Recording tab, right click on an empty space and select, Show disconnected devices and Show disabled devices > Select Microphone and click on Properties and make sure that the microphone is enabled > You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

    2. Run audio troubleshooting
    Type Troublshoot in Windows Start Search box > Troubleshoot > Click Playing Audio > Run the Troubleshooter > Restart once it finishes

    3. Set up microphone
    Type microphone in Windows Start Search box > Click Set up a Microphone > Select required type of microphone (for internal mic, select Others) > Follow the onscreen directions to set it up

    I have a Swift 5 - SF514-54T that had a similar problem.  First I lost the camera and was able to get it back by uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft driver.   Then the camera disappeared again and this time after I had uninstalled it - it did not come back and was not detected at all!.   I suspect it was something to do with the connection as the wires run around the bezel down the left and into the chassis to connect to the motherboard. I had a look inside and could not see anything wrong but firmed all the connectors I could see.   It still did not come back immediately, but literally 24hrs later it was detected and started working again.  It's been over a month now and it is still ok.    There do seem to be some gremlins with these new models.
