    So check cable on HDD. Pull it out, push it back in a few times to clean its contacts. The HDD was indeed showing up in the boot order at least intermittently. Jack E/NJ

    HDD is still showing in the bios
    and regarding the pulling out of the HDD I have never opened my laptop so I am not sure about how to

    Shut laptop off. Remove charger. On bottom, remove 3 screws on HDD door. Lift door up on right side and remove. Grab mylar grip (C) on HDD and its carrier. Pull to left to remove from mainboard connector. Push it back it in. Repeat a few times to help clean the connector contacts inside. Jack E/NJ
